Definitely classic D&D / 'Lord of the Rings' style fantasy. I have been dying to play Pathfinder. I bought the books and really read up on the rules. I love the upgraded classes from 3.5. I tried running a campaign with 5 first time players... needless to say it didn't go well. Most of them got too drunk before the game even started. I guess that's what I get for playing with 'cool' friends. I planned out a game that would be fast pace and feel like you're in a movie. I had all kinds of special powers for everyone too. It was too hard to keep them focused. I can't wait to play with some vets.
My 1st time playing D&D was with a good friend from high school. His family friends were 20 year players that could DM on the fly. The only draw back was their kids played and both of them were semi bipolar and a bit dim witted so it really ruined the experience. Is there really a need to cast a lightning spell in the river to kill a bird flying over head? No, unless you want to kill off your own party... fail. I was a noob but at least I had a clue. =P
Pathfinder d20. I haven't got too into very many others excluding every version of D&D. I feel that there isn't enough customization in 4e. It plays like WOW on table top, and 3.5 doesn't have as many powers and the balance is kinda poor.
I nabbed a torrent with every D&D book ever made on PDF... rage! As far as sites go, I have been without a group forever and haven't really had much reason to seek any websites. I do, however, have a campaign / world that I have been working on for a while. Hopefully someday I'll post most of it on the gaming site that I have in the works.
I'm new to the Austin area and highly interested in playing Pathfinder. Ever since I was a kid, gaming has been what I have always loved doing in my free time. The point to moving here is to design games and eventually create my own gaming company.
