Re: [roleplayers-413] Champions Players

Hi Leeland,

I run quite a few GURPS games though I tend to stick to fantasy or "limited" tech games almost exclusively.  I also tend to use rules as guidelines. (In fact I'm the primary GM for Travis's group)

I'm pretty unlikely to ever run an unlimited ultratech game in GURPS as the options are too broad for my tastes.

So what is it you/your friend dislikes about fantasy and what genre's are you (the plural you) open too?

Thanks
Billy

I don't mind the fantasy setting, but one of my best gaming friends absolutely, positively detests the genre so it is basically right out for him.  I'm a little more flexible than that.

Are you looking for exclusively non-fantasy, or just not exclusively fantasy/dungeon crawling?

Not all groups play the same campaign for years on end(my current group has arks that usually last from 6-24 months, and while my first character was a peasant-turned-wizard in a fantasy game, I have also played a genetically engineered crawdad inventor in a steam-punk-post-apocalyptic game with magic, a Kender-wizard on a spell-jamming ship, currently the Captain of the gymnastics team who got rubber-man powers from the hat(power-sets were actually drawn out of a bag, but you get the idea) in a supers game, and soon a genetically engineered humanoid who is being sent to the arena because his obedience programming turned out to be flawed in a star-wards universe game...)

It is important not to exclude groups you want to play with just because you don't want to be stuck with something they only do occasionally...

Huh...  I was looking for GURPS groups and came up with nada.  Anyone running GURPS for something other than a "fantasy" setting?  GURPS Traveller, Hi-tech, Steampunk, Cthulu, Supers, etc.?

Really? I have 6-7 years of GURPS 4th experience across three groups, and that is not even counting concurrent campaigns. (not too bad for a game-system less than 9 years old)

I just did not say anything because we already have 7 players + GM and I don't think we could handle many more players at this point(and if we wanted more, there are a couple of spouses that might be interested)

I'm not that familiar with the Hero Games rules, I think I played them last back in the 1980s.  I'm set up for GURPS 4e book wise, but it seems like despite SJG being located here in the Austin area that nobody around here uses the system.  Alas.

GURPS Champions or the Hero Games version?

Hello,

I am wanting to see if there is any interest for people wanting to play Champions. I live in Round Rock but if I had a solid count we could look into getting a table at Dragons Lair.

Matthew
