I'm thinking for starting a savage worlds game , However I'm not sure what Theme to go with,Fantasy ,Super Powers , Worlds Horror Companion, or Space. I was hoping the Community could give me some input. For those of you who don't know what Savage worlds is here is a link()

ITs been an age sense I have ran games but I am willing to do so. I miss hanging out with other nerds and the close bonds i formed over a night of RPG games and Beer. Sense I moved to Austin been hard to find a group i fit in with.

Second Question Would it be best to meat at a pizza place or dragons lair to start things out with or should i just host it at home?

Third question when is the best day to set up a group? When i was in the army it did not really matter we played RPGS Saturday afternoon and chased tail at night then played again sunday and BS about our evening adventures or lack of them.

Any other input would be welcome =)

I would totally be down for playing in a Savage Worlds game. I'm free Friday nights. I'd host at home if you have the space but I have had great success getting space at Conan's Pizza. Those guys are very supportive and love the attention (as long as you buy a pizza)

I've always been partial to playing in Modern settings but with subtle twists of fantasy. Like, there are guns and there are very real life problems, but there are fantasy/pulp problems. One one-shot I ran had the group of people escorting a model that was secretly a brainwashed psychic. The convoy was attacked in town by a bunch of monsterous villains.

Anyway, let me know if you put this together.

So here is what I was thinking of, a setting in the modern wold current time. There are secret societies that try to protect the world from artifacts that have strange powers and hunt down supernatural evil such, ghosts, demons, and apocalyptic cults trying to bring darkness to the earth. It will be kind of like warehouse 13 meets supernatural.

The players will get either missions from the secret societies they are affiliated with or through plain old detective work searching for news story’s of unexplainable phenomenon .

Depending on the players characters “faith based beliefs” is what secret group they belong to. Pagan they will be recruited from the Asatru in to the sons of thor, Catholic will be recruited in to the Vatican. The Illuminati recruit through the masons this is a catch all group. These main organizations are not at war with each other but do have different methods of doing things and feel that they moral responsibility to protect earth. As a result they have a moral code that does not permit the taking of innocent human life and looks down on theft of non artifact items. Modern Times have forced these organizations to work to gather for the common good. As a result agents from different organizations will work to gather as a team. There are other secret orders out there however, these 3 are the biggest organizations.

The secret organizations offer living allowance to their agents and provide rewards for the return of artifact or the destruction of evil creatures. Some organizations pay more depending on what the evil is. The Son of Thor for example give high rewards for the destruction of trolls, The Vatican gives high rewards for the destruction of ghosts and the Illuminati Gives the best rewards for artifacts of power.

Hey there. I own the SW rules on .pdf and have a character generator via HeroLab. Seems like a fun game to play. I'd be up for your scenario, but my preference would be more pulp era. And of course, the main thing for me is where, when and how often, bc of real life stuff and all.

I'm moving to Austin soon, and I would love to be able to connect with some other people who play SW. This thread is a bit dated, but if you guys did end up getting together and you have an extra space I would love to sit in on a game.
