I see no reason why Jones should have stayed off the show.  He told his side of the story, a side you rarely if ever see to any depth on the MSM.

I don't think the
inevitable negative publicity coming from the anti-gun crowd is any reason not to tell Jones' side of the story.

If anything the tradeoff is publicity or no publicity.  Even negative publicity is good because now the clip will be played more often and if anything those who haven't formed an opinion will open their minds up to greater facts than anything presented on the MSM.  It will lead to greater demand for such interviews.

Jones comes off as sophisticated, not as a kook.  This is in direct contrast to how gun owners are portrayed.   Jim A.

I don't think so. Alex started off well, and it seemed like Piers gave him some space. He just knew his target very well.
But if you are right, then Alex should have just stayed off the show all together. Observe the general reaction to this interview. It will be a net loss.

If Jones had followed the script Morgan had for him, he would never had a chance to talk about his side of the story, to cite his own statistics, and to explain why there is a 2nd Amendment.  There just is no time for anything beyond telling Morgan's story between commercials IF JONES FOLLOWS MORGAN'S SCRIPT.  Jones knows that, and that's why he was aggressive.   Jim

Yeah but overall this will be a liability. Piers knew that he would fly off the handle and that is why he had him on the show. I already saw a headline: "Creator of the 'Deport Piers Morgan Petition' loses it on his show". With the average attention-span of today's people the actual content of Alex Jones statements will be less newsmaking than his flipping out and threatening revolution. And he ought to check his history because Lexington and Concord and the British attempts at arms confiscation was 1775, not 1776. We need people who can calmly, intelligently, and respecfully (regardless of whether respect is due) present and discuss the liberty side of the argument. THAT will win over far more of the fence-sitters and it won't push any of the others in the wrong direction and further embolden progressives, as this interview certainly did.

Alex may have been polarizing, but many eyebrows will be raised, and anyone on the fence on this issue can find plenty of useful material here not only on complete gun, violence, and murder statistics, but on how the MSM works, and especially the techniques it uses to control interviews. Alex was defiant and aggressive because he realized how Piers wanted to control the flow of information.
