A sign painting party is a time tested Ron Pauler tradition that really marks the beginning of the "hit the streets" campaign, and is invaluable for spreading the word in the most ostentatious manner possible! It is not as effective as chasing Shaun Hannity through the streets at night, but it can get some good local press if done properly. Typically, the signs are painted in the day, and the actually hanging of the signs is done at night by a crack team of para-military opreratives that will remain anonymous.
