Dear John and Bill,

I recently read your article entitled "Conservatives Not Cozying up to GOP'S big 3".  I wholeheartedly agree that McCain, Giuliani, and Romney are out of touch with the majority of conservatives.  All three are hawkish towards the Iraq war and supporting legislation which intrudes upon American constitutional rights (Patriot Act).

I'm surprised, however, that GOP candidate Ron Paul wasn't mentioned. He is the one candidate that I believe is in touch with the vast majority of American's.  Ron Paul voted against going to war in Iraq, regulating the internet, and the Patriot act.  He is a champion of small governent and insuring our rights guaranteed under the constition. I can tell you that his message resonates so deeply with me that, for the first time in my life, I am very excited about a candidate that is running for president.

I can tell you that I'm not the only one that feels this way as huge grassroots support has sprung up in the past few weeks.  He has won every online poll by a huge margin that I have seen.  He currently has 11942 subscribers on youtube (Ron Paul youtube channel) which is nearly twice as many as the next highest presidential candidate (which is Obama with 5954 subscribers Obama youtube channel).  Rudy Giuliani only has 1418 youtube subscribers (Giuliani youtube channel) and John McCain has 1283 youtube subscribers (Mcain youtube channel).

Dr Paul has the largest number of grassroots meetup groups (http://www.meetup.com/topics/polact/cand/).  He has 162 meetup groups across the country which is nearly 3 times that of the next highest candidate (Obama with 66 meetup groups). McCain has a meager 2 meetup groups that support him and Giuliani has none.

In addition, the United Republicans of California (UROC) have unanimously endorsed Ron Paul for president.

Everywhere I look across the internet I have not seen such tremendous support for any other presidential candidate.  He is the one candidate that appeals to American's from such a wide variety of political ideologies.  I personally know of a number of republicans, democrats, libertarians, and independents who strongly support Ron Paul.

With this said, I'm surprised that Ron Paul wasn't so much as mentioned in your article.  I've come to respect the balanced and unbiased news that the Union Tribune has delivered in the past.  However, I'm disappointed by this seeming bias of failing to mention a candidate which has so much grassroots support.  I hope to see a more balanced reporting of the presidential candidates in the future.

Respectfully,
-Marc Bailey

This is outrageous.
There was an article on conservatives rejecting the "big 3" contenders in the GOP race. And no where in the article was there even a mention of Ron Paul!

All of us need to write a letter to the auther John Merelius.
The article can be viewed here: http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/politics/20070527-9999-1n27campaign.html

and Merelius's email address is: [address removed]

Here is the email I wrote:

Dear John,

I read your article in today's U-T titled "Conservatives not cozing up to GOP's big 3".

I'm amazed that you did not include even a mention of Ron Paul anywhere in the article!

Ron Paul has been zooming in the polls and winning nearly every internet poll out there on the debates.

Ron Paul has been called "the only conservative in the race" by MSNBC's Tucker Carlson!

Ron Paul is the conservative that republicans are turning to because he does represent true conservative values- staying out of the affairs of countries overseas, and a small federal government including a huge reduction in spending and taxes.
He opposes the federal government's intrusion into our lives in every way possible.

MSNBC's Pat Buchanan said Ron Paul is "the only man who was right from the beginning on Iraq."

Have you not heard anything about Ron Paul?
Can you give me a few reasons why he would not be included in this article? I would hate to think there is some kind of media blackout going on here with Dr. Ron Paul, as what appears to be the case.

I look forward to your explanation.
