California alone proves some posters here wrong. Blacks, Whites and Asians aren't doing the jobs? Oh, ok. Because they will definitely get those jobs when 1. They're already given to illegals precisely because they're here illegally and under the radar and 2. American citizens who actually pay taxes and have real costs not dependent on government welfare, can't live with those wages which are drived down precisely because illegals take them.

Tell me, apparent immigrant experts, does the legal immigrant who came here legally and is a U.S citizen, who is just as poor as the illegal who crossed going to get the same opportunity? Not likely, he's stuck on same boat as the "whites and blacks".

Not all "work hard", and CALIFORNIA, you know, the state we live in...is a prime example of how things have changed for the worse. I have seen cities full of people who cluster together and don't even speak English. I've seen the decay of cities that never were like the condition they were before. When a large group, no matter where they come from, is culturally different and comes in, huddles together and demands YOU make signs for they can understand where things are, and YOU pay for them to go to the hospital, you have a serious problem.

And that doesn't even touch the sheer amount of criminals and health issues associated with allowing undocumented people in.

Government hand out and welfare is the problem, yes. And if that was gone, it wouldn't be as bad. But don't pretend for a freaking second the above isn't occurring as a repercussion of massive influx of people who don't want to assimilate.

Everybody of every nation is an "immigrant". There are no natives depending on how far back in time you go. To the creation? 300+ years ago there were few national boundaries. Indians immigrated from current Russia to current Alaska according to theory. At what point in time do you want to base your statements on? I choose now.

The idea that all or most immigrants "work hard", assiliate and learn English is an exaggeration. The handouts are given to immigrants WHILE IN AMERICA. No immigrant, no handout.

As a nation of immigrants, how can you say all immigration is bad?  Are you a Native American yourself?  If not then YOUR ancestors were immigrants.  They came here to work and build a better future for themselves.  They learned English, worked hard and assimilated into this beautiful melting pot called USA.

Immigration isn't the problem, the handouts we give are the problem.  The endless spending is the problem.  Why should San Diego County spend anything on translators?  The burden to learn English should remain on the immigrant.

I'm an immigrant. I'm a physician, a libertarian and a small business owner.  I pay lots and lots of taxes and hire people.  I haven't received any handouts and am helping fund the handouts we give out as a society today.  English is my second language and while growing up in Oklahoma, I wasn't ever given a translator nor did I ever expect one.

You are missing the point if all you want to do is 'close' the borders.  Instead, we should encourage skilled immigration and decrease unskilled immigration. After all, you need more contributing members of society and need to limit the 'handouts'. Why should someone who has never paid into Medicare or social security be able to take out from it? That's the problem....

So sorry that all this people are coming to this country to work, they don't ask for handouts or welfare or food stamps, they here and work very hard. Sorry the "american people" don't work as this guys, I have not see any white or black guy working the fields, get to work and fill the positions this "invaders" take becouse are empty. They then would not come here bc there's no work for them.

As waaaaaaaaaay too often happens, people get off of the subject of the original text. We keep hearing about illegal and legal immigration, but I never hear nor read about ending immigration. So I sent an email with this rare (and obviously controversial) subject. It is obvious that most of you did not read carefully my entire 9 point arguement for ending immigration TO America. If you did you would be talking about the harm (or lack of) to America - financially, economically, culturally, socially and politically.
Article IV, section 4 of our national constitution states that the feds must protect the states from "Invasion". Article III, section 6 of our California Constitution (1879) states that English is the official language of California.
In violation of article III, section 6 and in causing social and financial hardship for San Diego county, the county government wasted $160,744.90 (minimum) just during January - March 2010 on translators, publications and signs in languages other than English and other foreign/invader related crap. This figure comes from my FOIA request granted by the county. I have the invoices, etc. right here. You helped pay for this!!!!!!! Still do! Obviously the foreigners have no reason to assimilate (when in America, do as the Americans do) with the county accommidating foreigners acting foreign at your expense. I agree no government should do this, but they will as long as there are foreigners in America expecting special treatment. Even if the handouts and special programs stopped, the invaders harm our culture, economy, society and move our governments politically left. Then there are the race riots.
They are also diluting our American culture.
NOTICE THAT I NEVER EVEN HINTED a specific  race nor ethnicity. Make no assumptions.
