Media is not Research while Rome is Burning

The majority of the American electorate treat television, radio, newspapers and magazines like they treat home makeover shows. They absorb the entertainment and turn around thinking they're up to the task. As so many people find out the expensive way, in order to remodel a home, you actually have to learn a lot more before you start cutting boards and driving in that first nail.

Like anything else, the facets of home building and repairs are crafts. You need to LEARN how to properly cut and hang crown molding. You need to LEARN how to properly install a concrete anchor and when or why to use it. You shouldn't just throw together some plumbing without researching how to properly fit and seal pipes. Yet, our American electorate feels that media entertainment alone informs them enough to go to the polls.

Obviously, this is the most unfortunate aspect of our country's current condition. Media entertainment is exactly that: ENTERTAINMENT. It does not constitute as RESEARCH. The entertainers have bosses and corporate sponsors. They deal with ratings and have to turn a profit. No one with a rational mind would think that any of these entertainers would still be on the air because of any principles or convictions for the good of the American People. Their soap opera-like fodder turns profits for their owners. It's as simple as that.

So, this is why education is key. Research is required. And the People will continue to get the government they deserve. Our American electorate are no different than the fools who revelled over bread and circuses, while allowing Rome to burn under the fiddling Caesars. It's a human cycle that has yet to be broken.

Our Founding Fathers gave us the best contract yet between a People and their government by writing the Constitution. The "fools" today watch television, listen to radio, read newspapers and magazines and go to the voting booth. They'll read some books, too, but often written by friends of the media personalities or by the entertainers themselves! They are completely lacking in the research department. The "Caesars" are of both parties in Washington, D.C. and, looking at the balance sheet, there can be no doubt of their "fiddling".

Ron Paul and his supporters just happen to be playing the roles of knowledgeable town criers, minstrels and sages in the midst of rising flames. Will it work? Will the People break thousands of years of the same repeated cycle? Time will tell and history is certainly not on our side. Our only comfort is knowing that Ron Paul's efforts to actually do the research have put him and his supporters on the right side of history.
