Meetup Description: Dear friends,
Our own member Chris Carbine is running for Hoboken City Council and needs help with petitions.
Aplogize for the lateness here but on Saturday he is having a petition drive...it also Hobokens annual St Paddy's Day parade and party.
Here is a little about Chris and why we need to help him. Candidates that run a freedom message is our best hope. Please spare 2-3 hours to help out. A close train ride away.
In 2001 when "reform" candidate Dave Roberts and his slate were elected, the Hoboken municipal budget was $50 million. Since then, the budget has skyrocketed to $125 million and the city council has abdicated financial control of the city to a "state monitor" from Trenton who has raised property taxes 87%. The great bulk of this expansion has been in personnel including 4 fire chiefs & a police chief who makes more than the one in NYC. My campaign proposes to lower spending by renegotiating our municipal CBAs by threatening municipal bankruptcy if necessary. It seeks lower taxes for ALL of Hoboken not just its developers who shift their tax burden onto the city?s residents (See below). It is opposed to eminent domain giveaways of valuable riverfront property, particularly the one in the works for David Rockefeller:http://www.jerseycityreporter.com/pages/full_story?article--blocks-and-a-billion-dollars-br-font-size-i-Rockefeller-Group-hopes-to-build-in-Burlington-Coat-area-some-voice-opposition-font-i-br-%20=&page_label=hoboken&id=1913101&widget=push&instance=home_Most_popular&open=&
Please help me stand up to the machine, the unions, and the developers for the taxpayers of Hoboken.
