Re: [ruby-102] Re: [QUIZ] Unit Conversion (#183) - Did anyone consider using anything interesting as the data structure for storing conversions? I started with a hash, and just moved that idea to a YAML file, so I get a hash from that anyway. On Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 10:38 AM, Mark Wilkins Vikram D. Nov 17, 2008 10:47 AM
Re: [QUIZ] Unit Conversion (#183) - > ## Unit Conversion (#183) I stored my conversion table in hashtables in a separate module. The format is: module ConvUnits unit = {} UNITS = {} # ex. length, volume, weight unit['meter'] = 1 unit['m'] = 1 unit['kilometer'] = 0.001 u Mark W. Nov 17, 2008 10:37 AM
Re: [ruby-102] [QUIZ] Unit Conversion (#183) - I have my data in a YAML file. if ARGV.size != 3 puts "Usage: ruby convert.rb " Process.exit end require 'yaml' measurements = YAML::load_file('conversions.yaml') value = ARGV[0] origin_u Vikram D. Nov 17, 2008 10:05 AM
Re: [ruby-102] [QUIZ] Unit Conversion (#183) - There is only one conversion... #!/usr/bin/env ruby class Convert def self.usage puts "Convert miles per gallon to rods to the hogshead." puts "Pass an int greater than zero, get an answer" puts "Usage: ruby convert.rb 50" end Nathan Nov 17, 2008 7:02 AM
