MISSION VIM-POSSIBLE

Maybe you've only heard of it.  Maybe you've gotten stuck in it after leaving the '-m' tag off your 'git commit' (hint: :q!).  Maybe you've found yourself up sh*ts creek sitting down with a new pairing partner who's using it.  VIM, the editor that often leaves beginners shaking in their boots, can actually be an incredibly intuitive and powerful tool.  Sam Gottfried, developer at Cyrus Innovation, will lead us through the history of vim (and its predecessor vi) and some usage tips for beginners and advanced vim-ers alike.  As always there will be pizza and beer, so come on out to the first Ruby Blind of 2013!  There'll be time for hacking, chatting, and sharing projects, and maybe some talk of resurrecting the Ruby Blind t-shirt idea for a second go-round.  See you there!

This was hands down, one of the most awesome events I've attended. So much useful information about vim!

I can't make it in person. Any possibility of a google handout or other video feed?

I'm a vim veteran, always excited to share the vim love, especially in a world of such upstarts as sublimetext.

Vi sucks but I have used it for years - Using vi was how I first learned how to design regular expressions :) These days, it's much easier to learn regular expressions using ruby or python or possibly Perl :)
