Ever wonder what's really happening when you run 'Post.find(1)' in your rails blogging application? Ever been puzzled, (bemused even) by the SQL output in your rails console (you know, the one with all the question marks and 'SELECT' statements)?

Avi Flombaum, founder and instructor at the Flatiron School, will take you on a magical journey into the inner workings of Active Record, the incredibly powerful ORM tool that makes database interaction with rails such a breeze.  We'll start by learning to run SQL queries on a database to return the results we want, and build up to the way that Active Record can abstract away those queries into ever-so-easy-to-use ruby a la 'find_by_name' and 'where'.  Attendees will come away with an understanding of the truly profound magic of database introspection and the fundamentals of ActiveRecord.  (This journey was a large part of the first few weeks of Flatiron School, one that I was really intrigued by, so I asked Avi to share with all of you.  Not to be missed, I promise ; ).

...AND, if that wasn't enough to get you out, attendees will also get a limited edition, first run, directors cut, original pressing, Ruby Blind T SHIRT(red tshirt with white ruby blind face logo)! For $12 (cost of admission to the meetup), you'll get your very own shirt to wear when you're home for the holidays to freak out your non-programmer relatives.  I wish we could give these away for free but the price is just barely covering the cost of shirts+printing+shipping, so plop down a few beans and grab your shirt!  Please fill out the survey linked below with your name and t-shirt size by no later than Friday 11/29 (tomorrow)!

I hope to see you all out in December, we've been on a roll the past few months, let's keep it going.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
