Hello everyone! RSVP soon for our new Meetup!

What: What About the Client-Side? Yehuda Katz

When: Thursday, January 27,[masked]:30 PM

Where: LinkedIn
2027 Stierlin Ct.
Mountain View, CA 94043

Food, beverages and beer will be served - sponsor TBD.

As Ruby programmers, we spend a lot of time thinking about developing server-side applications. But as browsers get smarter, and we move more logic into the client, the problems of organization and performance that Rails? conventions solve for us on the server rear their ugly heads once again in the client.

In this talk, Yehuda will talk about these code organization and performance problems. He will also talk about how the SproutCore client-side framework solves them, and how you can use these same techniques (whether or not you use SproutCore) to make your JavaScript code perform well.

Yehuda Katz is a member of the SproutCore, Ruby on Rails and jQuery Core Teams; during the daytime, he works as a framework architect at Strobe. Yehuda is the co-author of the best-selling jQuery in Action, the upcoming Rails 3 in Action, and is a contributor to Ruby in Practice. He spends most of his time hacking on open source?his main projects, along with others, like Rubinius, Thor, Handlebars and Moneta?or traveling the world doing evangelism work. He blogs at and can be found on Twitter as @wycats.
