It's time to bring back the beer run tradition!
The run will consist of a 4-5 mile hilly loop heading from downtown Berkeley, up Claremont Canyon trails, and back down to end the run at Freehouse Restaurant/Bar @ 2700 Bancroft Way, Berkeley for well deserved beers and food.
Run route here: http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=523277
*Please note it is an "out and back" but starts downtown Berkeley and ends at Freehouse Restaurant at 2700 Bancroft Way so not quite back to the starting point. Although the route is only 4 miles, it includes a big climb towards a vista point. For those interested in more mileage, you can head further up the hill and meet us at Freehouse.
More info on menu/beer selection here: http://berkeleyfreehouse.com/images/menu.pdf
Don't forget to bring your ID and some cash/credit card if you plan to stick around for the food/beers after. Also, pack some layers - Freehouse has an open courtyard with fire pits but does tend to get chilly as the sun goes down.
Meeting point is on the corner of Shattuck Ave and Bancroft Way - best visual marker is the CVS store on that corner. We will meet in the area just outside the store and will begin our run then. There will be no places to stash away gear/bags/clothes so please plan accordingly. Parking in that are is limited so public transit is best.
UPDATE: The organizers of the Berkeley Half Marathon, which is coming up on November 24, 2013 will be joining our run and featuring our group as part of the Community Connection program. Check out their facebook event post:https://www.facebook.com/events/336905483110960/
They will be promoting registration for the event and answering any questions you may have about the course.
