New Meeting: Evanston Spring Running Meetup (Northwestern U)

Announcing a new meeting for The Chicago Running Meetup Group!

What: Evanston Spring Running Meetup (Northwestern U)

When: Saturday, March 29, 11:00 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meeting Description: 11:00AM Saturday 3/29/08.
This is a beautiful run around the green colored Northwestern University Lagoon, partly along the shore of Lake Michigan. Course is a paved 1 mile loop, so the distance is flexible from 3-6 miles, depending on what pace you run. You can run on the grass beside the paved path too (closer to Lake Michigan) like I often do, which adds slightly to the length of each loop. My hope is to have a slower beginner group and a somewhat faster, more experienced group (and anything in between). Last time, we had a small group, and we all ran together, around 8-9 minute pace.

We all end up at the same place by the lagoon waterfall bridge after roughly 35-40 minutes. The plan is to grab lunch together in downtown Evanston immediately following the run. Clark's on Clark is the closest option, but I heard that the Blind Faith Cafe has really good breakfasts too (just a short car ride away, on Dempster Rd, near Chicago Ave which is the main drag through downtown Evanston).

Meet on top of the 2 story parking structure (only one there) at the far end closest to Lake Michigan. Parking is free and open to the public on weekends (and M-F after 4PM). Please feel free to call me on my cell: [masked], if you need help finding us, or are running a few minutes late. If you're new to running, I'd be happy to answer any questions as well.

ALSO, if you're not used to cooler weather running and want to get ideas from a more seasoned runner(s), pls feel free to join us just for lunch afterward at roughly 12Noon. Call me on my cell if you want to know where to meet us.

Note: if we get snow or ice that doesn't melt before Saturday morning, I have maps of a scenic 3-4 mile loop along the lakeshore and through Evanston (Backup Course). This has many convenient shortcuts, if needed.

I hope you can make it.

Happy trails,
