Friday Night Trail Run - Matthews Winters

Hey folks,

Looks like the weather's supposed to dry out by Friday (fingers crossed), so let's hope for no mud and plan to hit the trails for another awesome Friday night trail run.

We'll meet at the main parking lot just south of I-70 at the Hogback exit and plan to run for a little over an hour. The main loop down towards Red Rocks and back is right about 6 miles, and there are options for longer and/or shorter distances should you be so inclined.

Per usual, we'll regroup at the trailhead after to make sure we didn't lose anyone, then adjourn to a nearby bar/restaurant for drinks and dinner. Open to suggestions on that front - we usually head towards Morrison and the Red Rocks Grill or Morrison Inn after doing Matthews Winters, but we could also head north into Golden or into Lakewood.

Any questions, hit me up.

This was a very nice trail to run. Great group of people to run and hang out with as well.

I just moved to Denver and am also a new runner - never run the trail before. Hope I can catch up with you guys tomorrow. :)

Just curious how fast this group is :-) I can't this week but I'm wanting to this summer

Varied paces and hard to say. We're at the beginning of the trail running season so I'm not fast yet personally. We usually wait at intersections for those slower and provide directions.

The front of the group probably averages a 10 minute pace over the whole run, slower on the uphills and faster down. As Bryan said there's usually a pretty good mix of paces, so we tend to run for time more than distance.

Time for a comeback. I have some NB-101s that have never been used... time to break them in.
