5 Mile, 6 Mile, or 11 Mile Run- B&A Trail

Let's try something a little different...

Starting at 8 am at the Ranger Station, we'll run 2.5 miles in the direction of Glen Burnie (north, mile markers going up from 7 to 9.5) and then run back to the Ranger Station parking lot, for a total of 5 miles.

Starting at 9 am from the Ranger Station, we'll run 3 miles in the direction of Annapolis (south, mile markers going down from 7 to 4) and then run back to the Ranger Station parking lot, for 6 miles.

So, there are the following 3 options for this run:

1. 5 miles, starting at 8 am

2. 6 miles, starting at 9 am

3.  The full 11 miles, starting at 8 am

We can grab some coffee and a snack somewhere after the full 11 miles are completed (which should be somewhere around 10 am).

PLEASE POST IN YOUR YES REPLY THE MILEAGE THAT YOU PLAN TO DO AND THE TIME YOU PLAN TO ARRIVE, so that I know who to look for and when.  I'll be doing the entire 11 miles, at about a 10-10:30 pace or so.  Please plan to be on time, because timing is everything with this run (need to be back at the Ranger Station on time for the 9 am run; not too much downtime in between the 5 miler and the 6 miler for those who are doing the full 11 miles, etc.).

Lots of icy fun. Thanks for setting this up. I never would have gotten out there on my own.

Good morning, everyone! I just called the Ranger Station to check on the conditions of the trail for tomorrow's run. The friendly ranger who answered the phone indicated that the trail has been both plowed and salted, but that there are still some icy patches, so we will have to exercise caution. She did not recommend riding a bicycle on the trail in its current condition, just to give you a general idea of what kind of shape the trail is in. So, we won't be breaking any land speed records tomorrow. I encourage everyone to bring any equipment or items that might make your run safer. I also encourage everyone to exercise caution tomorrow. If you're coming at 9 tomorrow, those of us who are starting at 8 can give you a better firsthand report. :) See you all tomorrow!

The worst thing that can happen is I turn around and hang out in the heated bathroom for everyone to finish ;-)

I get nervous about ice so I think I'll have to do the dreaded treadmill tomorrow. Hope to catch you all on another run soon! Be safe.

Gonna try to make the whole 11 miles, but don't wait for me if I take the sleep in option!

Does the park service plow the trail? Should we bring our Yak Trax? This could be interesting!

Hi Kevin-- I saw some pictures of the trail on the Capital newspaper website the other day and it looked like the portion of the trail that they took a picture of was plowed. I am going to try and call the Ranger Station today or do some research to check on the status of the trail and how it has been maintained over the last few days. My guess is that it should be plowed, but I want to make sure!

I went running there a day or two after the last snowfall, earlier this month. Only a couple of miles had been ploughed - around the maintenance building, which is a couple miles south of the ranger station. However, it was OK to run on the snow, without yak trax or anything else, although you do need to watch where you tread. I even managed to overtake a skier on the trail!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
