Planet Run

Description

Come run billions of miles from the Sun to Pluto and back, or whatever shorter distance you want. Pluto is at the Earliegh Heights ranger station in Severna Park, 3.67 billion miles away (4.7 earth miles).

Planet landmarks:

Inner planets including Jupiter - too close, aim for Saturn at least. ;)

Saturn - 2.2 mi round trip

Uranus - 4.6 mi round trip

Neptune - 7.2 mi round trip

Pluto - 9.4 mi round trip.

Directions

801 Aquahart is actually a Bruster's Real Ice Cream. Enter the lot and drive straight to park near the Sun sculpture.

We will have planetary trivia with ice cream cones as a prize!!

Afterwards, we can eat nearby if people want. Several restaurants are in Harrandale plaza, which is walking distance.

    Great run, Karl!!

I made it to Uranus, didn't have my phone so couldn't take a selfie to prove it, so I just did a little Uranus dance, and turned around and went back.

What qualifies as a "little Uranus dance"? I must see this!

Congrats to Justin for guessing the closest to the answers for the trivia questions. 1 - If Kim weighs 100 pounds on Earth, how much would she weigh on Jupiter? Answer: 253 pounds. 2 - If Kristen turned 21 Uranus-years old, how many Earth years is that? Answer: 1770.

The puns for this run are too fun when you start from the sun and go past Uranus. And the eats were great too!

I came, I ran, I never made it to Uranus. Next time, I'll factor in 295 traffic (which was insane by the way!)

    • Leslie

295 traffic is a pain in Uranus

Is everyone planning to run the full solar system? I'm not feeling up to the full journey this time, so I may just run to Uranus and back (in all seriousness)

Who knew the 7th planet of our solar system would be so popular.

      April 17

    • Kim

No, Justin. Uranus is a straight shot. ;-)

I’m with Christine in my lobbying effort for a little bit later start time, otherwise, Myanus might be a little late getting to Uranus. I plan to bring enough fuel in order to make it to Pluto.

In 2 weeks sunset will be 7:59 pm so I'll bump it back, probably just to 6:00 pm though.

      April 17

  • Kim

I'll be there. This will be my first run (and real workout for that matter) in 3 weeks so, I'll be trailing the pack and probably only gonna hit Uranus ;-)

So...I dropped a box on my foot last Wednesday. The good news is...nothing is broken. The bad news is...my toes are still ugly and swollen and numb. I can't even walk 2.2 miles to Saturn right now. Karl I hope you post this again in a few weeks! I'll buy your ice cream Afterwards!

    • Karl

Ouch, hope it heals quick! I'll post more of these. :)

Can't make the planetary sojourn this time around..maybe the blood moon eclipse will be out there too! Enjoy!

I can't wait to see Uranus again, Karl!

    1 · April 14

    • Karl

I'll be sure to work that into one of my trivia questions.

      April 16

  • Paul

I'm a yes, but could be slightly late. Don't wait, I'll make an effort to catch up!

    April 16

    • Karl

We can wait a little, send a text. No gate at this lot unlike Earleigh Station (moot since we'd finish in time anyway).

      April 16

  • Christine

This is my official request for a 6:30 start time :)

    April 16

    • Karl

      AM or PM?

I can't make it this run but this is a great route, I know exactly where all the little 'planets'
