The RVA Hoop Lovers have been in existence since 2007, when I created an online group on Tribe.net and MeetUp.com to find other Hoopers to play with in the Richmond area. The hoop circle grew at a magical rate, and by 2010 it was time to create RVA HOOP HOUSE, with a Mission to inspire, and promote healthy, active lifestyles through creative self-expression and the Love of Hoop Dance. I began teaching classes, and holding workshops, as well as organizing local event participation with the RVA Hoop Lovers. We've never considered ourselves a performance Hoop Troupe, because we operate on a volunteer basis, and agree that creating a non-competitive, all-inclusive, supportive environment where learning is FUN, and without judgement or intimidation, is the way we like to learn.
"The Best Hooper, is the one having the most FUN."
As a general rule, the RVA Hoop Lovers have been supporters and volunteers, and sometimes, workers of the RVA Hoop House. We are a dynamic group of community conscious individuals that are passionate about spreading the LOVE of Hoop Dance and all its extraordinary benefits to our Richmond Communities. We've been increasingly successful since 2007, and plan to touch more and more lives with the Hoop for many years to come.
The use of this group has served multiple purposes over the years, but its constant theme has always been to bring people together that are either looking for other Hoopers in the Richmond area, or Hoop-Curious. Bringing Hoopers together, either by way of a free MeetUp at the park, a local community event, or a structured class is my specialty and my Mission.
Can't wait to share the love of Hoop Dance with you.
