Moonlight Cinema- The Princess Bride

Moonlight Cinema is an outdoor movie screening at Centennial Park. A fun alternative to the run of the mill movie theaters. We'll meet a little before the movie so we can have a picnic and hang out. Kinda like pie in the park after the hike for those who were there. :) The movie is The Princess Bride, a cult classic and listed as number 50 on Bravo's "100 Funniest Movies," number 88 on The American Film Institute's "AFI's 100 Years...100 Passions" list of the 100 greatest film love stories, and 46 in Channel 4's 50 Greatest Comedy Films list. If we get a group of 20 or more interested we can get a group discount so don't buy your ticket online yet!

The group discount doesn't help out a lot because of shipping costs for the vouchers. Why they are not send electronically I do not know. Anyway to order tickets go to: http://www.moonlight.com.au/program.php?location=Sydney. Or you can wait till the day of provided they are not sold out. I'll give more details about when and where we will be meeting when we get closer to the date.

And it was brought to my attention that I need to clarify: Just because it has the word Princess in the title in no way means it is a chick flick. To explain:

"The Grandson: Has it got any sports in it?
Grandpa: Are you kidding? Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles...
The Grandson: Doesn't sound too bad. I'll try to stay awake.
Grandpa: Oh, well, thank you very much, very nice of you. Your vote of confidence is overwhelming."

We could play the Princess Bride Drinking Game: every time you hear the phrase, "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die", you down a shot.

Revealing my obsession with T-shirts here, but I'd be tempted to grab this if I thought it'd arrive by the 31st!

Hi Clara, 8:30's a good approximation. Life of brian was on about then, but it's based on the sunset rather than a specific time, so I'd aim to get there slightly earlier.

The showing is the 8:30 tickets but as Nathan said it is flexible. The group can meet at 8pm to claim a spot and hang out before the movie starts. I'll post an exact meeting spot closer to the date.

A couple of things for tonight: You can bring your own food and drink into the venue. I would recommend bringing blankets as that seems to be often forgotten. Right now the forcast is for light rain. The event will be going ahead if that is the case. If it gets cancelled due to Moonlight management those who already have tickets will get a voucher.

The theater is at Belvedere Amphitheatre, Centennial Park (on the corner of Loch Avenue & Broome Avenue) Paddington. Enter the cinema via Woollahra Gate on Oxford Street. Some of us will be meeting at 7 at the Gate to grab space. Once inside the goal will be center but if that is already taken look to the lefthand side. My number is 0404 561 948 if you need to locate us. See everyone tonight!

Clara - if you bring your receipt or booking number to the box office, they'll print out your ticket for you. Worst case, they can search by the email address you used to book.

As the screening has been cancelled, you will have to call Moonlight on 1300 551 908 --> choose Customer Service and give them your e-mail address. Then you will obtain a voucher number in e-mail to redeem another section.

They say it is technical verses the weather. Thanks Johnny for the phone number. You can also email frontdoor@moonlight.com.au. One big thing keep your old tickets because you'll need them for the new show you pick.

FYI - if you pre-purchased, and want a refund rather than a voucher for another session (there's nothing coming up that interests me), ask for it - the rep I spoke to seemed to be happy to give me one without pushing the voucher option. (Yeah, I'm picky, pedantic, and prepared to stand up for my legal rights, not that it came to that. I'm funny that way. :)
