Welcome to the Sacramento Area Golfers (SAG). We are a group of beginner to advanced golfers who enjoy participating in golfing events in and around the Sacramento area. On any given day we may play an 18 hole course, a 9 hole executive course, arrange group lessons to build on our golfing skills, attend or participate in local tournaments or meet socially to discuss courses, techniques, tips ....and life! We try to follow USGA guidelines for play, but we're not always successful. The bottom line is, we just want to golf, enjoy each other's company, and have fun. Oh ...but we DO try to observe the basics of golfing etiquette. It's the right thing to do!
In order to play an 18 hole course with SAG, you should you should be able to consistently hit a minimum of 100 yards from the tee box, and make each hole within twice the number of par strokes. For example, on a Par 3 hole, you should make it there in 6 strokes; 8 strokes on a Par 4, and 10 strokes on a Par 5.
We encourage newer golfers, that can't meet the standards above, to play at our 9 hole events, golf seminars and classes. Newer golfer that bring their skill level to the standards mentioned above are invited to attend our 18 hole events.
Please know the basic rules of golf and golf etiquette before you play with our group. Here is a great website to refresh memory: http://rulesacademy.randa.org/
Being focused on your "Pace of Play", playing "Ready Golf", and being aware of golf etiquette are very important concepts in our group. These are actually more important than your skill level. Less experienced golfers can play well with more experienced golfers when these rules are followed.
