128th Anniversary Sacramento Scottish Games & Festival

Experience traditions of the Scottish Highlands!

Two days of Celtic music and dance, heavy athletics, history, genealogy, Clans and cuisine at the Yolo County Fairgrounds. Saturday night Ceilidh. Non-stop entertainment includes the Wicked Tinkers, Molly’s Revenge, Men of Worth, Culann's Hounds, Scottish fiddlers, Celtic harps, and (of course) top-notch bagpipe and drum bands.

The Sacramento Valley Scottish Games and Festival is the third-oldest Highland Games in the U.S. and the second-largest in the western states, and this will be our 138th festival. The Sacramento event is known as "the friendly games," with a family atmosphere where everyone is welcome. It draws drum majors, musicians, dancers and athletes from around the world, including well-known competitors and performers from Scotland and Ireland. The Sacramento Games are open to all who regularly compete in heavy athletic events (the caber toss, hammer throw, etc.). British food, Celtic art and merchandise, sheepdog trials, the Hennigan Spinning Frisbee K9s, and other animals typical of the Scottish Highlands round out the variety of fun.

I know my father and my youngest little brother have kilts ready, I have not had the time to make an outfit in our clan colors for me and my daughter I've been busy working on stuff for the convention in August. But before the weekend I will definitely post what we will be wearing so we can meet up and say hello to everyone.

The Games are hosting a Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) Saturday evening. It IS an additional charge to attend -

Saturday Night Ceilidh (includes BBQ dinner):
    Kids 11 and under $12
    Individuals 12 and over $17

All the performing Bands (Wicked Tinkers, Molly's Revenge, Men of Worth, Culaan's Hounds) are to be there and BBQ from Ludy's in Woodland. Would you like to meet up there and make this an Official Meet Up?
