Angel Island is a hilly, grass and forest-covered island, the largest in San Francisco Bay. It is located one mile from the Tiburon Peninsula and covers about 760 acres. It provides spectacular views of Marin and San Francisco Counties.
We will hike a little over 7 miles total on easy to moderate well-maintained trails around the perimeter and have lunch at the top of Mt. Livermore to enjoy the beautiful surrounding scenery. We'll also journey through some points of interest like the Immigration Station (the Ellis Island of the West), Fort Mcdowell, and the Nike Missile site.
After carpool arrangements are made, we'll leave shortly thereafter and make the drive to Tiburon where we'll board the 10:00 ferry. Round trip fare and admission is $13.50. Bring lunch, lots of water, snacks, and $4.00 per hr. to your driver. Wear layers due to changeable weather conditions and lastly, don't forget your warm, friendly attitude.
After the hike, we'll have an optional eats/brew at Marin County Brewery.
Directions: I-80 W to CA-37 to 101 S towards San Rafael/San Francisco. Exit at Tiburon Blvd./E. Blithedale then turn left on CA-131 and continue onto Paradise Dr. Find parking, preferably at the large supermarket on right side of the street. We'll then meet by the large fountain in front of the coffee shop prior to boarding the ferry. No dogs, please. Rain cancels.
Your $1 donation will help pay for our club's annual dues.
