This is a temporary replacement for the weekly Kick Ass Hill and Boot Buster Hill hikes.

We will hike the streets of Auburn, through various neighborhoods, seeking out the steepest hills we can find. We will hike at a moderately fast pace to keep up our conditioning.

I estimate this to be a minimum of 6 miles - and depending on routes, possibly 7-8. By hiking at a fast pace, we should complete this hike in 2-2.5 hours.

Please bring a headlamp or flashlight, water, and good walking shoes - and a great sense of humor is always appreciated. :)

MEETUP LOCATION IS RAILHEAD PARK IN AUBURN. From Sacramento/Roseville, travel east on I-80. Take the Maple St. exit. Stay straight on Maple Street, which turns into Auburn/Folsom Rd. at the first stoplight (Lincoln Way). Go through two more stoplights (High St./Sacramento St. and Racetrack), then turn left at the third stoplight, which is Pacific Ave. Continue straight on Pacific until you see the parking lot for Railhead Park on your left. There are restrooms and a drinking fountain available at this park.

Thank you Cheryl for taking the time to gather us all together. And thank you to the group for welcoming me into your fold - the company was fabulous - rivaled only by the light of the moon: )

Another one for the memory books with the full moon and this special group. The smells of BBQ brought salivating reflections of the rock quarry back in vivid detail. :) Actually saw two PR vehicles driving swiftly up Auburn/Folsom after departing and had a chuckle. ;) Thank you Cheryl for getting us out there each week. xoxo

Another wonderful evening hike, watching the glorious moonrise over the American River Canyon. I don't know why, but I got a craving for some raviolis, wine and ice cream :) Thank you all for coming out and making these hikes so much fun. It was so nice to have Ron and Rachel join us again, too.

Sorry for the last minute RSVP. I thought I already said yes to it earlier this week. Am I too late?

Meeting on Wednesday night with some estate sale people, so can't make this one. Oh.... and by the way.... the flu shot I got before last Wednesday's hike? Ya --- I've been parked in my bed ever since with what --- call me crazy here -- appears to be the flu! Seriously?

    January 13, 2014

    • Cheryl Z

YIKES! That doesn't sound good. Take care of yourself and we'll see you next time.

Lee, the flu shot takes a MINIMUM of 2 weeks to build immunity, but for most, several weeks. You may have been exposed before or during that time. Flu shots work. Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Get better soon!
