The Ultimate Sacto Midtown/Downtown Urban Hike!

Approx. 4 miles. 1 1/2 hours+/-

Meet at 6:00 PM, leave at 6:11

This moderately fast paced urban hike explores some of midtown/downtown Sacramento’s streets and history featuring Sutter’s Fort, Capitol Park, and Chicago Style Pizza for those interested in staying for dinner.

Route Description:

We begin this urban hike in front of the Chicago Fire Restaurant in downtown Sacramento on J Street between 24th and 25th Streets. Once our crowd meets critical mass (or it's 11 minutes after the hour) we will embark on our urban adventure.

Traveling along the urban walkways we head toward Sutter’s Fort. Soon we arrive at the fort’s duck ponds and the Native American Museum. Circling the fort our band of marauders rendezvous at the gates of the fort. From the fort gates we trot along Capitol Mall encountering Sacramento's Handle District and its many eateries and sidewalk cafes. As we approach Capitol Mall we pass through the Capitol Area East End Complex and its municipal art displays.  Ultimately we reach Capitol Park.

Ambling about Capital Park we enjoy the flora and fauna. We then wander back through the urban walkways and return to Chicago Fire for some good eats and cheer. Cheers!

Other Information:

There is street parking in the vicinity of Chicago Fire. Check out the parking along 25th street between J and K Streets. After the urban expedition, we'll organize for dinner and drinks at Chicago Fire Restaurant on J Street between 24th and 25th Streets.

To get to the meetup location from Hwy 50, take the 16th street exit and go north to J Street. Take a right on J Street to 25th Street. Look for street parking in the vicinity of 25th and J Streets. The meetup location is 8 blocks from the 24th and R Street Light Rail Station.

I'm guessing it's to cover the Meet-Up page site cost.

FYI at a Learn Conversational Japanese Meet-Up they charge a $1 for my stated reason. I know because I asked leader of stated Meet-Up Group.
