Hi Mike, I'm fairly new to this hiking group (since this will be my first hike with you guys). I joined a couple weeks ago. Can you please let me know if I need to wear hiking boots for the Folsom Sunset trail or if just good sturdy shoes will suffice?? Looking forward to your reply and meeting you in person this evening! :)
FYI I just hiked Echo to Aloha yesterday, there's alot of snow still on the top end of the trail, though passable with boots. Mudslog!
Thank you! I will be there.
hello! are you still doing the wednesday night hike?
Mike,
Sorry I do not have pictures. I have been up that trail a few times so did not take my camera. You can get to the top, several people did make it to the top. I would say at this time, with the snow, the hike is strenuous and people should be prepared to hike in snow and up the rocks. Maybe request that people take 64 oz. fluid each and someone should have a water filter. Some people will find this hike a fun challenge and may like sliding down the bowl.
Crystal
Just wanted to let you know that I went on the Tallac trail on Saturday, July 9, 2011 to the rim (just past the bowl) and there is still quite a bit of snow past Cathedral Lake. Needed my microspikes to make it up the snow covered steep bowl. Some in my group scrambled up the rocks. We were too tired to make it to the summit, but some in my group had fun sliding down the bowl on their rear ends. Not sure if the snow will melt by next weekend. Crystal Spurr

I did a nice hike along the coast today(Sunday) to Alamere Falls. Decided to skip the hike with you tomorrow. It sounds great. Robin G.
