How did you become interested in the Japanese language?

I couldn't put my finger on a single thing that got me into Japanese culture, but some noteworthy I recall would be some early samurai films I watched like 七人の侍 "Seven Samurai". I got exposed to some music and some manga around the same time and my interests bloomed. Then I explored my interests more by taking two years of Japanese in college.

What's your fluency level? Newbie? Beginner? Intermediate? Advanced?

I was at an intermediate level however it has been a few years since my studies so my Kanji has suffered big time. I would consider myself a rusty intermediate I suppose.

What would you like to get out of your participation in this group?

I would like to first regain all I have forgotten and then expand my Kanji reading and writing, everything else will naturally flow secondary from that. I also want to help others with their Japanese using what little I do know in the greater scheme of things. I would also like to make some friends that have the same interests in Japanese culture as I do.

はじめまして!自分はアンドリューです。日本語が大好き. 大学に日本語を二年ぐらい勉強したがまだ下手です。日本が好き人に合いたい。友達になりましょう。 Hello! I'm Andrew and I love Japanese. I studied it for about two years in college but I still need more study. I want to meet people that also like Japan & its culture...
