Took Japanese for 3 years in high school and audited a year in college. Big into games and anime, which influenced my taking of Japanese when presented with the opportunity. In my years post-graduation, I've always wanted to travel and or work in Japan. In recent months I've tried to make more definite steps in that direction.
Beginner to Intermediate maybe? I know hiragana, katakana, and some kanji. Maybe 50, no more than 100. I always like to say that if I was dropped off in the middle of the country I'd be able to make it back home, but I'm really lacking in my conversational ability.
A chance to practice and improve my Japanese speaking skills. I've had a couple of chances to talk to Japanese recruiters, and every time they ask to me speak in Japanese I'm horrible. So I'm mainly looking for an environment in which to practice my speaking and learn proper format and all that.
Hey, I'm Alan! I've been interested in Japanese language/culture since high school. Currently a freelance engineer/designer/tech dude residing in midtown Sacramento. Continuously, yet slowly improving my Japanese...maybe.
