May 2014 Sacramento Speakers Network Meeting

Where: Doubletree Hotel 2001 Point West Way Sacramento, CA 95815

Meeting Fee: $15 for PREPAY ON LINE, $20 AT THE DOOR

Meetup Description: We meet on the first Wednesday each month to discuss the business of speaking and work on ways to help each other find more speaking opportunities. We are open to experienced speakers as well as those just getting started. Our meetings generate a lot of energy and ideas!

We invite attendees to participate and share ideas and challenges since this is how we each find unique value in attending. Also, many of our members are business owners and are finding ways to team up and do business with each other outside of the group. Lots of great networking is happening here!

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a leads group. If your primary objective is to sell something, this isn't the group for you. We are here to help each other grow and prosper!

6:30 to 7:00pm: Informal Networking

7:00 to 8:30pm:

*Introductions and Speaking Engagement Announcements

*Guest Speaker: Karen Hutton

“Capture Imaginations & Capture Your Audience (and the World)"

How  imagery can make capture your audience’s imagination to make telling your story easy-peasy - and awesome!”

I’m Karen Hutton and I’m a light-bender.  Welcome to my world!  Before we go any further, let me clarify this whole “light” thing. Because the light I’m talking about far outshines the day variety.

As a fine art landscape photographer, voiceover professional, online show host, writer, speaker and educator (frankly, it’s easier to just say “multimediographer”)… I’m here to light a fire. Ignite creativity. Flip the switch on the lightbulb of “A-Ha!!” Spread the warm glow of “Ahhhhh”. Tell stories that enlighten. As a photographer, we’re all about light; we chase it, wait for it, shape it, revel in it, create with it, become it. Life can’t exist without light. I’ve built a world around it in its may forms.

I often say that I’m "living my life as an artist… or better yet, living my life as if it WERE my Art". I even created an online show about people who are doing the same and succeeding BIG.

It’s called The Chat with Karen Hutton.

I believe that Art is our finest creation. It shines a light on beauty, fulfillment, joy. Having Art around us shifts the very atmosphere around us… living it changes the world.

As part of this ongoing mission to make a difference, I’m working with a lit-from-within, talented, enthusiastic crop of photographers seeking that “next step” in their work and creativity as a Master in  The Arcanum; Magical Academy of Artistic Mastery.

I've lived a truly multi-passionate, multi-career life that has included figure skating, equestrian sports, dance, acting (all professionally) - and been teacher of all of the above - as well as voice & TV/radio broadcast talent coach, voice over artist. I believe you have to bring your whole, awesome self to this grand table of life if you want to leave a lasting mark.

Now: I’m a fine art photographic artist who is part spinner of tales, part life evangelist, part social media and tech enthusiast, with a healthy dose of earthy practicality and humor to bring it all home.

I deeply believe you must write the best “book of life” possible, stamped with a unique signature if you want to truly thrive. And… I believe you must share yourself and your gifts with the world. At the moment, I’ve got 1.65 million followers on Google+  and  (currently) 1.3 billion views, 255K+ followers on Facebookwebsitesa blog where I share photographs, ideas, and how-to’s, and a YouTube channel; all of which was birthed from a desire to share that which I most love; light in its many myriad of forms.

Ultimately: I believe that Art lets us dream. Why does this matter? Because dreaming is the voice of our soul’s genius calling out, helping us evolve, bringing us home. There is magic in that. It’s also what drives my photography and and my voice (both the one you hear and the one that drives my creativity). I spoke about this as part of the  Photographers at Google speaker series, at Google HQ in Mountain View, California.

I’m known for my photography and the many avenues I’ve created to express my particular point of view about life and light. It’s something I care deeply about and am committed to inviting as many people into this irresistibly fun and enlightening party as I can!  Through my images, blog, social media world and voice, I deliver Art as both a product and a lifestyle that is fast becoming world-renowned.

Hope to see you again. We won't be posting her talk, but if you make your way to, you can link through to her "The Chat" for a little more of her viewpoint. Some are more photography focused; others are entrepreneur focused.

Thank you all for being there last night. I don't know about you, but I've got a new speech brewing in my head now; one perhaps with cows or elephant seals.

As a former photographer and photo editor, I especially enjoyed Karen's presentation. She showed some wonderful images, but she also gave a view into a VERY creative mind.
