I call my business Imagination Without Limits because it is limited thinking that prevents each of us from fulfilling our heart's desire. I believe that if you Change Your Mind, you will Change Your Life, so I've developed an occasional newsletter by that name. I am also Twittering GOOD NEWS ABOUT TEENS 3 X Daily in an effort to spread the idea that there are more teens doing good in the world than there are dangerous teens and teens in danger. You would not get this notion by mainstream media as for every article where a teen is doing something wonderful there are 20 articles where teens are doing horrible things or having horrible things done to them. It is time to turn this perception around. Imagination Without Limits and my newsletter, Change Your Mind and Change Your Life are my small contribution to changing the mainstream perception of adolescence.
I am the author of Ten Tips to Tame Your Teen: Strategies That Work! This book was written to support, enlighten and guide parents of teenagers. Ten Tips to Tame Your Teen is now available on Kindle and other ebook readers through Smashwords.com. I am also preparing to launch an unabridged audiobook version on CD and as a downloadable mp3 file. Keep a lookout for these new formats on my website: www.rayerickson.com
I speak to parents and organizations about teenagers, the nature of the beast and how teens impact family life. I provide consultation and training to help those who live with or work with these amazing young people. Please contact me about speaking for your organization, PTA, school or business where families are valued.
I'm not much on awards because many of the people who received these accolades are not in the trenches doing the dirty work. This doesn't mean I wouldn't graciously accept acknowledgement of the work I do with teens and families.
I have either been a teenager or I have worked with them. My first teaching assignment came at the age of 19 when I walked into my old high school to teach pre-calculus to students only two years younger than myself. I left teaching when I discovered the crazy world of seriously emotionally disturbed (SED) teenagers. This let to the pursuit of a Master of Social Work degree and a 20+ and still counting years of private practice helping thousands of teens and families in the greater Sacramento area. Now I want to expand my influence by getting my book, "" Ten Tips to Tame Your Teen: Strategies That Work!" into the hands of as many parents as possible. I believe that by supporting adolescent developmental needs and drives that the next generation will be better equipped to address the problems in the world in a more peaceful, non-violent and loving way. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
I'm a consultant to families with teenagers and organizations that work with them. My goals is to change the way teenagers are perceived and impact the way that we (adults) go about preparing them for life. Yes, I want to change the world.
This is a wonderful group with a lot of really talented people.
