RICHARD DAWKINS on The Magic of Reality
Thursday, October 11
7:30 PM at First Congregational Church of Berkeley

RICHARD DAWKINS
THE MAGIC OF REALITY
How We Know What's Really True

Richard Dawkins, the world's most celebrated evolutionary biologist, has spent his career elucidating the many wonders of science. Now, he takes a broader approach and uses his unrivaled explanatory powers to illuminate the ways in which the world really works. With clever thought experiments and jaw-dropping facts, The Magic of Reality explains a stunningly wide range of natural phenomena: How old is the universe? Why do the continents look like disconnected pieces of a jigsaw puzzle? What causes tsunamis? Why are there so many kinds of plants and animals? Who was the first man, or woman? Starting with the magical, mythical explanations for the wonders of nature, Dawkins reveals the exhilarating scientific truths behind these occurrences. His is a page-turning detective story that not only mines all the sciences for its clues but primes the reader to think like a scientist as well.

@Anna and Sam Davis, I'm leaving from Roseville on Thursday afternoon. Certainly welcome to carpool. Call or text me to confirm: (916) 365-3407. We can figure out a good time to leave, but I think leaving around 3pm gives us plenty of time to get to Berkeley and good seats without rushing. Let me know.

It's a church, so pews are the seating, which is included in the admission price. Get there early if you can... It gets packed!

I went to see him at this venue in 2009 (I believe) when he was talking on The Greatest Show on Earth. He was signing his book afterwards. Can't tell if he's doing the same here.
