Much love and thanks to each and everyone one of you for standing up for the animals yesterday afternoon. We had about 35 people! Photos will be posted to Facebook very soon. Please add me (Lindsay Rose) on Facebook so I can tag you. I will keep you all informed of the next Primate Center action we will organize. Please let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.

Follow the movement here on Facebook and please share the page: UC Davis Primates Deserve Better and #UCDprimateprotest "So, yes, there is hope, and where is the hope? Is it out there with the politicians? It's in our hands. It's in your hands and my hands and those of our children. It's really up to us. We're the ones who can make a difference." -jane goodall

Would have given it a five star rating if we had been able to get some media attention. Any ideas as to how this is accomplished? I'm a newbie. This is interesting and important stuff even for those folks that are not vegan. I am so proud to be a part of this group and to have participated in the vigil! And obviously happy about my choice to go vegan from veggie a couple years ago. Home at last! Teri

Excellent. Wish we could have more exposure to the public. Maybe we do have through the media. I hope so.

I do not understand the map to the location that has been provided. I am driving from Sacramento and will be traveling to Davis via 80. If you can provide the exit off 80 and the directions from there, I will see you tomorrow. If not, I will have to pass. Too much going on to waste my time driving around and then not getting there.

Okay, Lindsay, you shamed me into it. LOL!!! I made a sign and posted it on here as the first photo. See you tomorrow.

Undercover Investigation Reveals Cruelty to Chimps at Research Lab

The Humane Society of the United States

A nine-month undercover investigation by The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has pulled back the curtain on the secretive, federally-funded New Iberia Research Center (NIRC) in Louisiana, revealing routine and unlawful mistreatment of hundreds of chimpanzees and other primates.

The investigation of New Iberia Research Center is the most comprehensive ever at any major primate research facility and has resulted in a 108-page complaint to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), alleging a minimum of 338 possible violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act at the center. The law sets minimal standards for the treatment of animals in labs.

Some ideas for signs, if you haven't made yours yet (Please focus on the recent primate deaths and/or the new smoke inhalation lab opening) -- "SHAME ON UCD Vivisection is cruel" -- "New smoke inhalation lab TORTURE CHAMBERS" -- "RIP: two monkeys found dead in 2012 due to negligence" -- "FREEDOM is every animal right. RIP primates at UCD"

Did you know: In May 2009 at the UC Davis Primate Research Center, a deadly new form of a virus infected about 24 titi monkeys, killing a total of 19 primates. A human researcher was also infected by the virus and yet never sought treatment for it, even after weeks of being sick, raising concern that she may have put the Davis human population at risk during that time frame.

Hi Everyone! I posted it on Facebook, but for those who are not on there, we are having a poster making potluck (with a wonderful law student who will be briefing us on legalities of protesting) at my house in Davis tonight. Would love you to join us! Text me at[masked] for more info. Thanks!

Please comment here if you are DEFINITELY coming on Sunday. Thank you SO much - the animals thank you! <3 (ps please bring a sign if possible and wear black clothing as we are partly mourning the recent death of a primate)

I'm coming! No sign, but I will be there wearing black. Did y'all hear the Blackfish bill died in committee? Sad news. But next year Rep. Bloom will try again. And we can raise awareness. I think the oped in the Bee today was unfair, uninformed, and did a disservice to humans and orcas alike.

Anyone that is interested can get on www.anti-vivisection.org - there is a lot of information about why we do not need to experiment on animals. We have new methods to replace this cruelty!
