Solar Cooking Workshop in the Park

Learn how to get the heat out of the kitchen and have fun cooking with the sun! Ilsa "The Nacheez Lady" will show you how easy it is to use a solar cooker.

Foods cooked in solar cookers cook in their own juices, so oil is never needed to make delicious meals. Using a solar cooker is an easy and fun way to eat all those veggies and grains.

Solar cookers will be on display. Depending on weather conditions, solar cooked veggies will be offered to taste.

Bring your own picnic lunch and have a lovely time eating it while Ilsa talks to you all about solar cooking.

Here are two web sites where you can buy a solar cooker or make your own:

Isn't there going to be a Sac solar cooker festival later in July?

The one on the 19th is a HUGE solar cooking festival. I'm just doing a small workshop where I show you how to cook with the cooker. Many people can't make the big event, so I'm just doing little workshops all summer long to keep spreading the word how easy and fun solar cooking is.

If you are only going to go to one, I would suggest going to the big event on July 19th. I will be there cooking with my solar cooker....please come by and say hi!!

Hi Ilsa! I am interested in this workshop, but noticed in the picture there is plastic used. Is that a requirement or will you be showing ways without plastic as well?

A box cooker doesn't use plastic, but I don't have one to demonstrate. If you come to the event, we can talk more about it.
