After getting permissions from our gracious host, David Fuller, at the Scottish Rite Temple and an official permit from the Salem Fire Department we are cleared to host this first of it's kind of event for our group.
I will be creating some dramatic displays of spark showers, similar to the one shown in the image on the right. I will make different patterns and trying some new untested tricks as well. In total there will be about 10 burns.
You are invited to come down and join the fun. Bring your camera, tripod, wide angle zoom (17-55mm) and remote shutter release. The above image was shot at 17mm from about 20 feet away. Wider is better.
You will want to use a camera that can shoot in bulb mode as I will be shouting start and stop commands for the cleanest images (limiting trialing artifacts) and this can only be done in bulb mode. Even if your camera can't do bulb mode, feel free to join us because fun images will be had by all.
Due to the real danger of being burned by molten steel, I will be the only person to handle and execute the burning material and a safety perimeter will be in place.
Come join in the fun.
