The Salt Lake City Glenn Beck's We Surround Them Event March Meetup

Noah's (map)

Selected By: Kim Coleman

"Do you watch the direction that America is being taken in and feel powerless to stop it?

Do you believe that your voice isn’t loud enough to be heard above the noise anymore?

Do you read the headlines everyday and feel an empty pit in your stomach…as if you’re completely alone?

If so, then you’ve fallen for the Wizard of Oz lie. While the voices you hear in the distance may sound intimidating, as if they surround us from all sides—the reality is very different. Once you pull the curtain away you realize that there are only a few people pressing the buttons, and their voices are weak. The truth is that they don’t surround us at all.
Share this page with your friends and family...

We surround them.

So, how do we show America what’s really behind the curtain? Below are nine simple principles. If you believe in at least seven of them, then we have something in common. I urge you to read the instructions at the end for how to help make your voice heard.

12 Values

* Honesty
* Reverence
* Hope
* Thrift
* Humility
* Charity
* Sincerity
* Moderation
* Hard Work
* Courage
* Personal Responsibility
* Friendship

The Nine Principles

1. America is good.

2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.

3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.

4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

You Are Not Alone

If you agree with at least seven of those principles, then you are not alone. Please send a digital version of your picture to: [masked] and then stay tuned to the radio and television shows over the coming weeks to see how we intend to pull back the curtain." (Glenn Beck website)

Also, please join us at Noah's for a special viewing party to demonstrate your support of these principles.

    Utah people who care......

    Hi everyone. This WILL be family friendly! What better way to teach our kids about how precious our freedom really is than involve them? We are trying to decide between a resturant atmosphere or school gym potluck style.

    I just wanted to post that there is also a bit of a discussion going on at Facebook here

    I hope we can start a blog/online forum so we can keep in touch and stay focused after the event, but I see the event in and of itself as more of a kick off, watch the Gleen Beck live show, wave or flags and hold up our signs, get excited, eat, and have fun!

    We need to remember we aren't alone and stay hopeful!

    "History does not teach fatalism. There are moments when the will of a handful of free men breaks through the determinism and opens up new roads."

    There are way more people in Utah interested in this than have joined here. WE need to get the word out to all of our sick twisted friends and family.

    I've never in my life attended a rally of any kind, but I cannot in good conscience sit by and watch our country being destroyed from within.
    Thank you Glenn! I was afraid that I would have to drive to Chicago for Rick Santelli's "Tea Party" to take a stand. Someone should post the info for this event on our local and free bulletin board @ ksl.com

    We're two senior citizens who have wondered for a long time what we could possibly do. We could see what was happening but kept placing what became false hope in our leaders. We wrote letter after letter to government to no avail and we kept hoping for an advocate. Then Glenn Beck came along to champion our cause. We are excited and our hope is renewed. We must help save our Constitution!

    I know it isn't the most worker friendly time slot--thank heavens for DVR! KNRS is only sponsoring the 3pm viewing, but if there is enough interest in a later showing, maybe we can consider a repeat airing. We would likely have to start from scratch with venue hunting, and so forth. The real excitement is to nationally virtually link arms during the live show, but let's see what interest pops up from this post.

    Took Glenn's advice on reading "The Five Thousand Year Leap". No wonder he recommended it. It's opening my eyes on what our founding fathers intended for our nation, they also warned against certain things that can cause a nation to fall, the same EXACT things that are starting to happen to our nation this very moment.

    The idea to turn down the commercial volume was terrific, even though restoring it was slow. The politician who attended Noah's in Utah and the radio personality were well-known and loved by a huge percentage of the audience. Perhaps too small of a percentage of the choir invited guests. The message was of hope in a nation where leaders fear economic loss and citizens too-often consider themselves powerless among politicians; and of love, friendship and unity being greater than retribution or $.

    Noah was a nice place to meet. I liked all the free books that were given out before the event. I was great to see all the people that care deeply about our country. I hope there are twice as many people next time.

    It was wonderful to be with so many others like minded!!! I have no idea how many came but it was packed!!! Not much standing room, even! Now we just need to DO something...not sure what yet, but we're trying. Love how emotional Glenn get's, 'cause so do we!! Loved the guest's he had on the show, whether with him or via Sattelite. Amd loved the live Cam of our soldiers!! Just plain LOVED it. Oh and am grateful for Noah's allowing us to use their beautiful place too!! Can't wait for another get together, but hope it'll be in the evening or on a Sat. "} Thnx~

    The Meetup was really well organized with lots of room and even some snacks which was pleasant surprise. The only bad thing and the reason I rated 'Good' instead of 'Great', was that it took me close to an hour just to get out of the parking lot due that location only having one street leading to the main road. Other than that, great job and I'm looking forward to the next Meetup.

    Thank you so much for organizing this event. The place was so nice and you were so organized. I am going to get neighbors involved, maybe they will come and watch the Glenn Beck show at my house. Who knows this will not end with me.

    This event was s o inspiring. It felt good to see so many people that felt the same way I do about our country. Glenn Beck did a terrific job. I like the way he kept going to Noah's in South Jordan and we were a very enthusiastic crowd.

    The meeting was awe inspiring. We felt true comradery with our fellow Americans who attended. We believe the grass roots were set on fire. We'd like to thank all those who took the time to organize this great event as well as Congressman Jason Chaffetz for taking time from his busy schedule to honor us with his presence. We need more leaders like him in Washington.

    Very Exciting and exhilerating. Traffic afterwards was slow getting out of the parking lot; a police car parked in the back had to wait also for over 30-45 minutes. Other than that, a great job done by all who organized the event! Now it is up to US to keep it going.

    So many people want to know how to get their voices heard. Such a positive group. Even the man wearing the "Obama for President" shirt seemed satisfied that this group of people were not out to get his President; people were there because they love their country and want it to be the country they know for their children and their children's children. Great organization. Needed more room, which is a good thing! Could have had some type of dialogue in-between commercials. Some type of, this is what we can do and let's get it going! All and all, thank you for everything that was done to make this a success!

    It was sooo nice to finally feel it, "We Surround You!" looking for an open seat with people that feels the same as I do. I listen to your show when I can as I juggle 9 children here and there. I consistantly talk with my 2 teenagers about our values that we have to hold strong to, to be the voice for our liberty and freedom. I cannot believe that we now have to bring notice to our side because of the corruption that lies ahead of us within the U.S Government. Glen, if I have too, I will stand up for what should be rightly mine, and that is my voice, our voice, so we show that WE SURROUND YOU!

    It was a fantastic gathering of people who love this Nation. Jason Chaffetz was present and his support was well accepted. Of course, the question bears asking, "Where were Hatch, Bennett, and Matheson?" The choice of location, Noah's in South Jordan, was perfect. The crows was respectful, encouraged, committed to keeping the values upon which this country was created - intact! I hope everyone sends a tea bag to Obama on April 1st. Millions need to land at the White House.
  • Rebecca
    Loved the message. Too many commercials. Would attend it again.
  • Gary and Linda Barrett
    The event was inspiring. We know that people care about and love this country and that the people are in charge of this country and the Government answers to us. We trusted the Government and they turned their back on the American people and the Constitution. We will never allow that to happen again!

    I was most impressed with how many people attended. It was a great to see how many people truly are interested in our country and the direction it is headed. I am grateful to those who organized it. As for the show itself. I thought it was good but some of the guests he had were people that I had heard before and so I wouldn't have minded listening to something new. However, overall - I was happy to be a part of it.

    Weaknesses: Glenn's presentation remained a little "up in the air" (Perhaps by design?) A person without a previous background in the 9/12 could have been a little confused about the principles/values and how they translate into practice. Strenghts: Great local attendance. It's nice to rub elbows with like minded people. There's a definite potential for several grass roots initiatives.

    There were a lot of people there....but it was good to be surrounded! Many people had to stand because seats were limited, but that was what it was all about...there are not guarantees in life! We make our lives what they are and we need to stand up and be counted! Thanks to the people that took this on and made it happen....

    We were on thn third floor of Noah's and the room was filled with people. At first we were only very small in numbers but the room filled up quickly with people even standing. We were happy to be there with like minded people. The thing that we didn't like is all the goodies were down on the first level, plus the after show was on down there but not where we were. We hung around for awhile so we wouldn't get stuck in all the traffic. In all my husband and I enjoyed being there. How many people do you think came? Thanks...Maggie and Dave Strong

    The event was quite inspiring; as always, Glenn was true to form and created the right tenor for the meeting. He did a good job of reminding attendees where the power really lies - within us. Attendees were fired up to get involved in government. Lots of good small group networking before, during, and after the event. Rep. Chaffetz was very personable, sincere, and did a wonderful job of reaching out to constituents. He did a good job of re-emphasizing correct principles of good government. He was well received. I would like to see these events happen quarterly with the ability of attendees to provide training to each other prior to or after the event on how to effectively engage their local officials, how to frame an issue or create a policy proposal, how to assess a policy or law, assess a leader's knowledge of principles, character virtues, disciplines, etc.

    Very good atmosphere, enthusiastic people, good presentation from Glenn Beck........BUT, if WE remain in the phase of talking only, w/o any actions we're going to be PRACTICALLY irrelevant. WE should convince & help a gutsy conservative Senator to introduce a National referendum for limiting the Congressmen and Senators tenure to 2 terms of 4 years. Right now the greatest negative anti-American group of influential people are in the Houses of Congress !!!!!! Instead of representing people's interests we have a group of people who made a "profession " from staying in the Houses of Congress and NOT representing OUR interest. THEY work for themselves NOT for US! WE surround THEM but THEM rule shamelessly over us! Action we need not just more presentations!!
  • Gordon Tooley
    The crowd was excited and the program from Glen was good. The group in the main room sounded like they were having a great time. We wished that there could have been a TV feed to the small rooms where the overflow crowd was. But we are enthused and have inked in 9/12 in our calendar.

    It was awesome! The crowd was high-class, spirited, enthusiastic, patriotic, and happy. I appreciated the fact that we opened our session with prayer. There was a feeling of oneness and unity; I came away with renewed feelings of hope knowing that I am surrounded by so many great people!
