The University of Utah student group, Secular Humanism Inquiry and Freethought (SHIFT) has invited PZ Myers to the campus this April. The title of his talk will be “The Good Atheist: Goals for the Godless 21st Century” and all are invited to attend.

He has ties to Utah, because he did his post-doctoral training at the University of Utah under Dr. Michael Bastiani in the Biology Department. PZ Myers is an Associate Professor of Biology at University of Minnesota at Morris and is the author of a popular science and atheism blog titled Pharyngula. He has published numerous research articles in Nature and other notable scientific journals.

He is a public critic of intelligent design and of the creationist movement in general, and is an activist in the American creation–evolution controversy. This event is made possible in part by the generous donations from the Humanists of Utah and SHIFT alumnus, Abhishek Mathur.

When: April 7th, 2012 @ 4pm

Where: University of Utah Orson Spencer Hall Auditorium

Cost: Free (SHIFT will be accepting donations).
