Change of Schedule for Tuesday night Spanish THIS WEEK ONLY

From: Keith K.
Sent on: Monday, May 14, 2012 11:14 AM

Our Spanish conversation group has been meeting every week for over 2 years, but occasionally we like to change things up a bit and do something different in order to spice up our lives.  So, this happens to be one of those different weeks.

Tomorrow night, instead of meeting at Huntsman Education Center in the Avenues as usual, we would like to go see a documentary film screening by Rebecca Lovato about Salt Lake City “artivist” Ruby Chacón.  In the film, Lovato discusses her Chicana identity and what it was like growing up in Salt Lake City in the 1960’s and the hope she sees in the work by fellow Chicana, Ruby Chacón.  Also featured this year, is a riveting documentary by Maricruz Juarez and Judy Fuwell on the subject of anorexia. The film follows the plight of one Salt Lake City family as they learn to heal from the death of their daughter due to an eating disorder.

The event takes place takes place tomorrow night, Tuesday May 15, 2012, at the Episcopal Dioceses of Utah (75 South, 200 East), from 6-9:00 P.M.  Light refreshments will be served.

Then, next Tuesday, May 22nd, we will return to our regular venue in the Avenues to discuss the documentary WHILE SPEAKING IN SPANISH OF COURSE!  Hope to see you at the film screening tomorrow, and again on May 22nd to discuss it.
