Sambasics Workshop at Hammond Park Gymnasium

Come celebrate Brazilian Independence Day with Samba!  Samba is the most well known form of dance from Brazil.  Our Sambasics workshop will provide an introduction to several substyles of samba including samba no pé (Rio-style samba), samba da Bahia (samba from the state of Bahia) and samba de roda.  This workshop focuses on technique and form covering basic samba footwork, traveling movements and turns.  A simple choreography will also be taught incorporating all of the movements covered in the workshop. After this class you will be ready to samba in any setting whether it be at a pagode house party or at the club in Rio.

Participants: Men & women (Ages 14 & up) of all skill levels are welcome to attend. No formal dance training is required. Female participants are encouraged to bring high heels to practice the final choreography at the end of the workshop.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
