Part of our Shoreline Series, we'll be meeting at a location known as Hospitals Reef in La Jolla, focusing on long-exposures and composition.
Join us in photographing the dynamic shoreline of Hospitals Reef in La Jolla, CA. This interesting location has a section of rock that is cratered with potholes, as well as a stretch that is lined with long crevices through which the turbulent tidal waves flow. This spot provides fantastic opportunities for creative composition with the many rocky features, as well as beautiful long-exposure shots as waves crash over rocks and spin through crevices.
We will be meeting at a set of beach stairs located at the above address on Coast Blvd in La Jolla, and shooting past sunset. This is when the most magnificent colors appear, but can only be seen by your camera using a long (20-30 second) exposure.
We welcome film or digital but suggest using digital if you are just starting out, preferably with manual shutter and aperture controls. A tripod is required to shoot at sunset, as the exposures can get as long as 30 seconds. We have one spare tripod available to use for $5 (email Nick beforehand).
Required: Tripod and camera with manual shutter control.
Bring flashlights, lens cleaning cloths, tripods, cameras, and a smile.
Email or call us if you have any additional questions or need detail clarifications.
See you soon.
