See South Park's Broadway show "Book Of Mormon" in Los Angeles

Oh Yay! Everyone! We're taking a field trip to Los Angeles, home of the angels, to see an insightful/irreverent look at the BOM through the eyes of the whack South Park creators,

This

guy

and

this

guy.

The American dream CAN come true when two geeks can become sexy simply by making fun of EVERYONE!!

What two less probable bed fellows than South Park and Mormonism?

We got a group rate, so tickets are only $71.60, including fees. There are 15 tickets available. Anyone wishing to go must buy a ticket from Rob Hennis before the cut-off date, at which time he will sell the remaining tickets for a HUGE profit.

Friday traffic can be difficult, so there are no current plans to meet for dinner in LA, but use this message board to develop schemes of your own.

Do note that this is the Friday before the big election, so let's dance while Rome burns, y'all.

TRAFFIC Caution: LA is usually a 2.5 hour drive at best. On Friday afternoon it can be a 4 hour drive at worst. Plan accordingly. FOOD Famous fried chicken place, Roscoes is one block east and one block south, on Gower. Open til 4am.

Remember Lucky from the diet coke commercials? His burger/beer/bbq place Lucky Devil's is two city blocks west on Hollywood Blvd halfway between Cahuenga and Highland. Head down Cahuenga for other good stuff: Kitchen 24 is just north of Selma; Big Wangs is at Selma; Umami Burger is in the 15Twenty building just north of Sunset.

BOOZE Dillons Irish Pub and the Frolic Room are closest. Mix of locals and tourists and theater-goers.

TOURISM Chinese theater with handprints is at Hollywood and Highland. The Kodak Theater there is the site of the Oscars. Beard Papa has fantastic cream puffs.

Or head down to Cahuenga and Sunset and visit the famous used record store, Amoeba. This whole area is safe to walk in the evening.

    Hi,
Anyone driving from (or passing through) any of PB/UTC/Mira Mesa areas?

    October 25, 2012

    • Betsy H.

Ok, my ride is on, they are willing to pick me up. It appears that the car is full. Can you look for another ride? If you don't find one, please send your rough dimensions because we may all be able to fit - depending.

    • Siddhartha

      Ok

  • Ami L.

Madeline - Just wanted to make sure you got our paypal receipt? I am assuming we will pick up our tickets from you in LA?

    October 29, 2012

  • Ami L.

Brendan, my husband says to ask if you're a serial killer. If the answer is no, we'd be happy to give you a ride. We're coming from Bonita, so it'd be no problem to pick you up :)

    October 24, 2012

    • Ami L.

Sure Betsy :). This is almost our first meet up (we did one of the newbie mixers last year) so it will be nice to meet y'all before the show.

      October 25, 2012

    • Ami L.

Betsy and Brendan, can you please email me your addresses to [masked], so we can plan the pickup route? We aren't that familiar with the drive to LA - what time do you think we need to have you both picked up and be on the highway?

      October 29, 2012

  • Brendan B.

Anyone I can score a ride with leaving from La Mesa area?

    October 22, 2012

  • Debbie A.

We are going to miss you guys at the Light the Night Walk. I hope you will support one of the volunteers walking in memory of Christopher Hitchens. THANKS! http://pages.lightthenight.org/sd/sandiego12/coalitionofreason

I made a generous contribution since I can't participate in the walk. Enjoy!!

Is there a way to put a +1 on my rsvp or to the wait list? I thought I had already put a +1, but I see now that I only got one ticket/spot.

    October 9, 2012

    • Madeline

Thank you, Annette. I just figured out how to do that and saw it was done.

      October 9, 2012

    • Kelly

Awesome awesome awesome! Thank you both so much! I will get on to Paypal and pay for them.

      October 10, 2012

  • Ami L.

We've had two cancellations on this field trip, so some tickets have become available. Rob is out of town, but it's time to collect the ticket money for those who wish to go. There are three payment options, in order of preference:
    1. pay Rob on paypal (his paypal email is [masked])
    2. pay Madeline in person
    3. mail a check to Madeline and she'll mail out the ticket upon receipt or keep it for you til day of (still have to pay in advance)
Please email Madeline right away with the option you choose. If you choose paypal, although Rob will get the receipt, you'll need to send Madeline a copy of your payment receipt via email since she's doing the ticket distribution while Rob's out of town. Her email is [masked]
It's important to pay before the 14th. Tickets that haven't been paid for by then will be resold on ebay starting the 15th.

I told Rob I wanted to go, not sure if I made it into the group of ticket holders. Just asked him now. I want to go though and have the money.

Rob, I hope you get this. We cannot go on this date. This frees up two tickets. Eliot

    August 17, 2012

    • Rob

Sorry to hear that Eliot. Thanks for letting me know. I'll take you off the RSVP list. (FYI, you can always un-RSVP for events if you can't make them).

      August 21, 2012

  • Rob

    Oh, and another two!

    August 21, 2012

  • Rob

So we were able to give out 2 more tickets! Also, I will be away at Burning Man until Sept. 4th, so I won't be able to answer questions. Madeline should have answers to most questions other than specific ones about seat location.

    August 21, 2012

  • Ryan

Rob, where are the seats located?

    August 10, 2012

    • Rob

    August 10, 2012

    • Madeline
