Come join me at the final Subtext Gallery opening reception of the year. Yeah, sorry this is short notice. But if you're interested in why a piece is going for $[masked] in a tiny gallery in Little Italy that usually showcases pieces ranging no more than a few hundred shells, then come on in. Here's a little blurb about the artist and a sampling of his œuvre: http://is.gd/sWSboR Of book parts and Bukowski quotes, people!
Gallery opens at 6 PM and ends usually a little later than 10. As always the gallery viewing is free. There will likely be free beer and wine per usual (tips welcomed, of course). There may be a live musical act (usually around 8:30 or 9 pm) in the open air quad out back. These shows tend to get pretty packed by halftime, but don't fret. The chic gallery-goers and bountiful hipsters are friendly enough. You'll have a decent time, or your money back.
I will be there at around 7, if anyone would like to meet up. I will provide my contact number to those who RSVP. Perhaps we can herd on over to the Waterfront or 98 Bottles just down the road for some drinks if the usual alcohol service fails to appear and/or the gig bores and/or just for the hell of it. Easy breezy play it by ear kind of a meetup. Cheers.
