Easy Hike: Penasquitos Canyon

Come join us for an easy weekend stroll through Penasquitos Canyon, one of San Diego's protected canyon parks. The track wends its way through oak trees nearby a stream, and features a waterfall about three miles in. If we want to, we can try to make it to the waterfall and back. At a walking speed that's about three hours. There's a Pho restaurant nearby if anyone wants to eat afterwards.

If you park in the official park parking area, there's a fee, but parking next door at Canyonside Park is free.

We'll meet in the parking lot of Canyonside Park. Look for me there - it shouldn't be hard to find me.

Hope to see you there!

really enjoyed it, even though I got wet. Lots of lively, interesting conversation, and I heard a couple of awesome jokes that I am already passing along.

it's not raining but the ground is a little muddy. Shouldn't be a problem. See you there!

I'm on a motorcycle, so I won't be there if it rains. I seriously hate riding in rain.

If it rains, I'd still like to go hiking, with anyone who feels like it (I enjoy rainy hikes). There are side trails that enter that enter the canyon from Canyonside park, so there should be no problem getting in. If people show up and it's so rainy no one wants to hike, we can go get some warm Pho down the road instead. I'll go there earlier in the morning to do some reconnaissance. =)

We have a couple of members who would like to come, but need rides. One is located near the intersection of Washington St. and I-5, and the other is located near the intersection of the 52 and Genessee. If anyone is coming from one of those areas, we would be grateful for a lift! =) Thank you
