Indian Dinner Followed by Tea, Coffee, Chocolate

Let's get together for some sinus-opening, taste bud-enlivening dinner!

Madras Cafe focuses on South Indian dishes, while most Indian restaurants seem to concentrate on North Indian cuisine.  Dishes range around $8 to $12, with delicious soups available as well.  We'll be meeting up with some friends of mine who've been enjoying Madras Cafe for years now.  The restaurant serves vegetarian dishes individually, so this may not be as much a sharing opportunity as other dinners have been...

As usual, we may take a walk afterwards;  I'm thinking:  Starbuck's, with Cold Stone Creamery next door.

We had a few no shows, probably at least partially due to the inclement weather, but ended up with an interesting European flavor crowd to contrast the delicious and sometimes spicy Indian food. We talked too late to do the dessert hike.. Big hello to the newbies and hope to see you at another event soon!

You can still join us for dinner! Conway typically joins us for these, and just opts out of dessert, because it involves a walk/stroll. This walk will be a little longer than others, due to the distance between shopping centers (residential area between). I'd still like you to join us, if possible.

According to Google Maps, it's actually a 1.7 mile ~36 minute walk (each way)... not 2 miles.

I got a last minute booking for work in LA tomorrow. Sorry I'll miss this...

Since we already have a couple on the waiting list, it doesn't seem fair to give the single seat out to give another couple an in when the RSVP was not made already to account for that.

Hello, meetup seems to be full but I was hoping to bring my gf along. Any chances of squeezing her in ?

I would love to join you for dinner, but though the mind is willing, I would not be able to make the walk, due to an injury.

Hey, Maria, the walk is not the Bataan Death March, and isn't mandatory. I myself am going to go for the meal, but sure as heck won't be walking anybody's two miles, not even for civet cat coffee, were that to be available. Not walking doesn't bar you from eating.

Yes, it's a bit of a walk. Unfortunately, there are no other dessert establishments closer, in any direction. We'll gauge the temperature/weather conditions before heading out, of course.

Whatever. The general destination for dessert/coffee is still about a 2-mile walk away from the dining venue, yes?

Yeah, Nancy sometimes has an interesting idea of what "next door" means. I'm up for the Indian cuisine, but I and my osteoarthritic knees are definitely not up for a 2-mile postprandial stroll.

I think she meant Starbucks and Cold Stone are next door to each other. People should know what to expect should they choose this option.

Noting that Starbucks / Cold Stone Creamery is a 2 mile walk, will probably take about 45 minutes, each way.
