Hi, I'm a member of San Diego Humanist Association (SDHA) and San Diego Secular Humanist Outreach (SDSHOut).

How did you hear about this group (i.e. advertising, directly from someone, at an event, online search, Meetup, another group, Facebook)?

What prompted you to seek us out at this time? Was it an event that we had organized, or something else specific going on in the world or your own life?

When did you become an atheist or agnostic?

I would call myself a freethinker. I got started down this path perhaps 35 years ago in reaction to creationists and their anti-science education efforts. Eventually my questioning has led me to doubt theism generally.

What type of events would you be interested in attending? (We pay attention to this! The more specific, the better.)

Dining, outdoor activities, etc.

Jim, so happy that you've landed a new job, but sorry that it's in Borrego Springs! Nothing against Borrego Springs, you understand, but we'll miss you at our mid-week RR meetings in San Diego. Maybe you should start a new meetup group there!?

Masterful job, Jim, with the Power Point presentation on astronomy. You put so much effort into your preparation, and it really showed. You're sure to be invited back to speak again!

Hi James, I'd like to let you know what kind of person you're dealing with. After responding to another member's suggestion that we meet-up at a beach I responded by suggesting Blacks Beach (which is my favorite beach, and I'm not embarrassed to admit it), whereupon the organizer (whoever that is) booted my from the group and sent me the following message: (see below)

Since we've yet to meet, it's hard to know how to take your
proposal. I prefer to take it as a joke. It's not that we're
closed minded or necessarily prudish. But as an opening line in
an attempt to make new friends, your proposal is verbally adept
but socially clumsy. Back to charm school for you, my friend.
Then, try again, OK? -- but with a different group. It's best
you know who your talking to before offering to bare any more
    than your soul.

James, it was nice meeting you at the El Cajon meetup. I hope sometime we can get to talk more at length.
