How did you hear about this group (i.e. advertising, directly from someone, at an event, online search, Meetup, another group, Facebook)?

What prompted you to seek us out at this time? Was it an event that we had organized, or something else specific going on in the world or your own life?

Internet searches.

When did you become an atheist or agnostic?

I became an atheist while attending Bible college studying for some sort of ministry (which I imagined would involve some sort of service to the underprivileged or community development, inspired by or enriched by faith motivation). Studying the material in depth in college courses lead me to question my beliefs. My atheism didn't last long, but the only beliefs I tentatively held all these years were more along the lines of deism, pantheism or panentheism. Although I maintain an interest in studying religion, from a historical, philosophical, psychological, and mythological perspective, my thinking is all but completely agnostic and for all practical purposes atheistic.

What type of events would you be interested in attending? (We pay attention to this! The more specific, the better.)

I would like to attend Philosophy discussions, walk or hike and talk activities, volunteering for humanitarian, environmental, or educational benefit. I have an intense interest in grappling with deep and heavy questions of philosophy including metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and logic and reasoning. I would like to be able to discuss such questions with people who on the one hand share general tendencies with me and don't clutter speech with religious dogmatism and fanaticism, but on the other hand challenge my positions and help me develop a strong philosophical grounding.

Hello, My name is Michael Dorais. I am a former Christian from my teen, early college years, but through since them I have been a primarily skeptic. I am associated with Unitarian Universalism and have an intense interest in philosophy.
