I've never known any other reality. I am third generation on one side, second on the other.
Social events to meet interesting people who are guided by their own principles.
My friends are compelling, compassionate geeks and nerds: musicians, scientists, role-players, medievalists, gamers, performers, activists, linguists, athletes and comedians. I try to be all those things too. I have been married, and I have a son.
Marvelous group! You, know, I totally underestimated the importance of this group! The fact is, there is political power even where there be no political action. Just getting together, knowing about each other, knowing we are normal, and doing normal things is hugely powerful! People ask me, "I see you are with the atheist group. Are you an atheist?" The truth is, although I am not a "believer," I don't define myself by what I DON'T believe any more than a monotheist would call herself an a-pantheist. That is what is so COOL. So when I am asked what I do with the atheist group, I proudly respond, "Play soccer. Play board games. Party. Go to concerts. Go to park events. Go to parades. Go to beach bonfires. Hike. Socialize. Hang out. Jam." "What do you guys talk about?" "Everything!" is my reply. Thanks for creating this totally normal social group! It is my absolute favorite!
