Hi folks,

Thanks for coming last night, I know it was late and rainy and you showed up anyways. I really appreciate that. I've listed the event ideas we all came up with below and have sent out a request for more assistant organizers. My goal is to get ten new assistants for this year. Even if they each only host one event each, it helps so much, especially when I'm working those 7 day a week, 16 hour a day game contracts.

I've made up a todo list based on what people said they could do for the group.

Todo list for organizers:

Katherine:
-post information about the group on Craigslist and at the Unitarian church to get more members
-help Joan make t-shirts and pins for our group
-come up with a distinctive logo for the group and download FSM logos for t-shirts and pins
-organize at least two events per month, but aim for four

Joan:
-host t-shirt and pin making event

Toan:
-host Budget Gourmet restaurant events
-once every two months

Peter:
-research cost of paintball event; can we get a group discount?
-start thinking of a date for this year's halloween party (I know it's super early to think about it, but why not?)

Carl:
-research getting the use of the Humanitarian activity room and the Joyce Beers Center or any other possible venues we can use.

-Schedule astronomy events

Timing of events:

Here are some thoughts on when all these events should be held, any comments are appreciated.
These should be flexible, taking in account how busy people might be during the holiday seasons and depending on how many other events might be planned for a certain month.

Theme Discussion nights: monthly
Budget Gourmet restaurant night: bi-monthly
Movie nights: monthly
Newbie Getting to know you events: bi-monthly
Emergency Musicals: one per year -if popular we can do two
Moroccan tent events: at least once in the summer, if popular we can do more
Hikes: bi-monthly
Family Picnics or barbeque: in the summer, once a month
Beach bonfires: in the summer, once a month
all other events at least once this year

In general, I think we should do as many indoor events as we can over the next two months, with maybe a hike thrown in. The summer will be pretty busy as outdoor venues will open up to us then. Late spring and early fall might be the best times for desert camping before it gets too hot or cold. Thoughts?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tentative schedule for the year

Feb: theme night, movie, restaurant, hike
March: theme night, movie, newbie event, Emergency Musical
April: theme night, movie, restaurant, hike
May: theme night, movie, newbie
June:theme night, movie, restaurant, hike, beach bonfire
July: theme night, movie, newbie, beach bonfire,
August: theme night, movie, restaurant, hike, beach bonfire
Sept: theme night, movie, newbie
October: theme night, movie, Halloween party, hike
November: theme night, movie, newbie
December: theme, movie Festivus

Whew. That's a pretty full schedule per month right there without planning the other events. Some of the events might be merged into other events. For instance, a newbie event could also be a beach bonfire event. We might hold a theme discussion at a restaurant event. Thoughts?
