I'm so excited to hear there is a beer event for Women Only! This will be held at Stone, Mon Oct 12th from 7pm-9pm.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the $20 ticket price, which includes tasters and the class, will benefit a woman's organization. Let's go and find out about women in the brewing industry and drink great beer while we're at it!

Here's the posting from the Stone website:

We know a lot of women like beer. We also know that among craft beer drinkers, men vastly outnumber women. Sometimes you just want to have an ale or two and hang out with the girls, but that can be tough when there aren't any around to talk beer shop with. Ladies, we've got just the ticket for you: a new Beer U for women only. Here's your chance to sample some awesome brews and learn about craft brewing without worrying about the guys. We'll talk about things like women in the history of beer making, what it's like as a woman working in the brewing industry, and more. This hands-on learning experience will be led by Stone’s own lady beer geeks: brewers Laura Ulrich and Jessica Gilman, and tour guide-know-it-all Kathryn Bouscaren. We know you've probably got a lot on your mind, so we'll have a Q&A session to wrap things up.

Below is a link to the site where you can purchase tix or get more info.

Stone Brewery

Let's meet in front of the main entrance w/glass doors by 6:45pm and go in together. I will be coming straight from work and most likely will not be able to check email all day so please call my cell with questions. You may also call me when you are there so that I can find you.

Hope to have some cool beer chicks join me! Please write or call me with questions.

Update:

There will be at least 4 of us staying at the Grand Hyatt Denver. It is 2 blocks from the convention center, a 5 minute walk, but for those who don't want to walk, there is plenty of transportation downtown, including a free mall ride.

If anyone has attended in the past and would like to send suggestions, please email me directly.

I booked my flight to leave San Diego on Wed and return Sunday evening.

Below is the original posting....

Hello Beer Lovers!

Some of you may have heard of The Great American Beer Festival, the biggest beer fest in the country! I'm going with a group from my homebrew club (North County Homebrewers Association, aka NCHA) and would like some beer club members to come with us.

Below is info from the GABF site...

According to the Guinness Book of World Records®, there is no other place on earth where a beer aficionado can find more beers on tap. The Great American Beer Festival is the American brewing industry's top public tasting opportunity and competition. Tasting sessions will offer attendees the opportunity to tour America's brewing landscape, one ounce at a time, by sampling more than 1,800 different beers from more than 400 of the nation's finest breweries.

Ticket prices include a festival program, a commemorative tasting cup, unlimited one-ounce samples of your choice of more than 1,800 beers, and a festival guide to help you navigate the floor.

The Saturday Afternoon Members-Only Session (AHA members) includes all of the previously mentioned benefits, a commemorative tasting glass, and a one-year membership to American Homebrewers Association (AHA). A more intimate atmosphere is created as the attendance is limited to members only, and the much-anticipated gold, silver, and bronze medal winners in each style category are announced. The opportunity may even arise for an informal discussion with a famous brewer on the latest brewing techniques or on what makes your favorite beer so good. Finally, you can participate in beer and food educational seminars that will be taking place throughout the session.

So did you catch all that? Unlimited samplings of over 1,800 beers!!! And the opportunity to hear the winners of all the categories and meet some of the brewers! We should be very proud of San Diego's Alesmith Brewing Company who won the award last year for Small Brewing Company and Small Brewing Company Brewer of the Year!

GABF Sessions

Thurs, 9/24 - 5:30pm - 10:00pm
Fri, 9/25 - 5:30pm - 10:00pm
Sat, 9/26 - 5:30pm - 10:00pm

AHA Members Only Session

Sat, 9/26 - 12:30pm - 4:30pm

Ticket prices for the regular sessions are $55 in advance and $45 for current AHA members for the Members Only session. You may buy an All Session Pack for $195 ($15 savings).

Hello fellow beer enthusiasts!

So much going on this month. We have been personally requested back to GreenFlash, one of our favorite north county breweries! Mike the owner, loves our group and they normally do tastings on Fridays and Saturdays but opening on Thurs Sept 17th just for us, along with the North County Happy Hour Group.

At Green Flash Brewing Company, they only use the best, all natural ingredients, and they brew beers in small batches so that it tastes fresh and pure. They have won numerous awards for their craft beers and one taste is all you need to understand why.

Beer specials, check this out - $1.50 for a 7oz glass and $3.00 for a 16oz pint glass! It's good to bring cash for the tasters (they are super cheap) and feel free to bring extra money (or credit card) for cases, growlers, and t-shirts cuz they offer great deals!

They will have a hot dog vendor coming and they do sell a vegetarian hot dog. The prices start at $1!

Please note, this event starts at 5:00pm and ends at 9:00PM.

How to find me/our group: It will be just the SD Beer Club and members from the North County Happy Hour Group. I will be coming from work and will be wearing a longsleeve white shirt/black slacks and wearing beads. Please come up and say hello to me and ask, "Are you Vicky" and I will be thrilled to meet you and introduce you to the rest of the group. Please call or text me if you have any questions at all. I want you all to have a great time.

Directions - please see their map on their Contact Us page. They are in an industrial area, a very nice commercial area of Vista. Please call my cell if you aren't finding it. They are worth finding!

I love Green Flash and can't wait for this event! Please call me or email me with any questions.

Cheers!
