Benefit Ride and Potluck for Victims of Typhoon Haiyan

This event is hosted by ITSA Bike Shop:
We were beyond relieved to hear that our parents and extended family were safe after Typhoon Haiyan ravaged through the Philippines. Nonetheless, we can not help but feel for the thousands of victims affected by this disaster. We would like to encourage everybody to help support us in a benefit for those victims.

This Saturday, November 16th, we would like to do a benefit ride around Point Loma, Downtown and Mission Bay to raise funds and materials for the Philippine Red Cross. Those of you with Filipino friends know that Filipinos love potlucks, so we'd like to also do a potluck with everybody after the ride is completed, so please bring your favorite dish to share.

Suggested Donation is $5 or more and any clean clothes, shoes, and/or blankets to help those in need.

If you can not make it to the ride or potluck, please donate directly to the folks at the Philippine Red Cross at http://www.redcross.org.ph/donate

Meet at the Liberty Station Park at Cushing and Womble.

Meet at 7:30 and wheels roll out at 8:00am.

Just around 25 miles and mostly flat with a few rollers. This is meant to be a beginner friendly route and we would like everybody to stay together for everybody's safety. Helmets are of course mandatory.

Ride route details: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/322945073

And please share with your friends, riders or not. This is about the victims of Typhoon Haiyan and whatever little help we can do would be awesome.

Hello fellow riders!!! Here's an update from Eric at ITSA Bike Shop:

Got that last donation in the mail, Cathy. Thanks again. We deposited it today and will get the funds over to the Red Cross tomorrow. We raised 3262 dollars in funds and 44 boxes of donated goods and an immeasurable amount of kindness and generosity from the community. Thank you so much for making our little bike ride into one amazing event

Hi everybody, although this is a road ride, we wanted to let everybody know that the ride should be manageable on any geared bike. The route is mostly flat with a few rollers through Ocean Beach back into Point Loma, so Mountain Bikes and Hybrids will be more than adequate.

The weather is showing a 30% chance of showers that morning, but we wanted to confirm that this event will be held rain or shine. Given the devastation in the Philippines, we feel that we must remain steadfast in supporting them through this event. We ask that everybody take extra safety precautions on the group ride should the conditions change and for everybody to dress accordingly.

    Thank you,
    ITSA Bike Shop
