Bikes and Beers SD: An Upcoming Tour of San Diego Breweries on
March 29th

Bikes & Beers SD - Welcome!

My name is Benjamin Robbins and I would like to make you aware of a new cycling event taking place in North Park on March 29, 2014. Bikes & Beers SD is a 25 mile ride which allows participants to tour our beautiful city while visiting some of the best microbreweries (Modern Times Beer, Stone Brewing, Mission Brewery and Mike Hess Brewing are all stops along the way) the city has to offer.

In addition, we are establishing this event because we want to help to make San Diego one of the most bike friendly cities in the world! With this goal in mind, we are donating a minimum of 20% of all profits to BikeSD.

Registration is now open. For more information about the route and cost please visit our website:www.bikesandbeerssd.com, our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BikesBeersSD, or contact me at [masked]

Regards,
Benjamin

Regardless of a benefit to charity, how is a sponsored event facilitating drinking and driving a good idea (bicycles are bound by the same basic vehicle codes as motorized vehicles when operated in the roadway)? DUI/DWI is determined by the level of impairment, not just B/A level. I have no agenda - it's just common sense to me. What am I missing here?

Hi Eric...This is Benjamin Robbins and I am one of the three people coordinating the event. I think your question is a good one and one we considered deeply when setting the event up. Over the course of what we anticipate will be a 4 hour event riders will drink three tasters (one 4 oz. and two 8 0z.) and pint at the final stop. (Participants will be given a coupon for a free pint for latter in the night at local brewery if they chose to use it.) We will also be providing water and healthy snacks at each stop along the way. We have set this event up for riders to be able to taste wide variety of San Diego Microbrews, while also being properly hydrated and nourished so they can enjoy the spectacular views along the ride as well. I hope this answers the questions you had.

To answer your question: You are missing a sense of fun and an ability to drink responsibly.

I'm looking forward to this fun event.

I limit myself to one pint or three tasters per stop. I recommend similar guidelines on this ride.
